Did anyone notice that the BBC has a hoarder programme up and coming in May, I think? Jasmine to present. I only half - heard about it as I was busy, but I'm sure we will hear more in due course.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I may have developed an obsession with a certain make of trainer/plimsolls and bought waaaaay too many pairs!
I've been good at turnover of clothes lately but I really haven't stopped them coming in to the house. And being that I've barely been in at all in the past few weeks, the house remains in much the same state it's been in!
Eldest DDs room STILL only half painted, wardrobe STILL not built! On the plus I have at least a couple of weeks where I won't be working during the week so may be able to get back to some form of normality as well as getting a bit of de hoarding done. My bedroom is the worst at the moment as its just too easy to throw everything ut of sight up thereNo more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Mar 2014. wow, I have never watched the hoarder next door before. very powerful, it was so uncomfortable to watch when the lovely women were first showing their homes, and describing their feelings. I am so pleased I sat through that discomfort and watched their internal transformation, brave dealing with issues and the freedom they found at the end. I've thrown some small things away, not much, but felt like I had to do something right away, and I'm going to book the storage area for ex's stuff tomorrow, I am not going to be overwhelmed by his things any more.:AA/give up smoking (done)0

WOW!!!!!
A miracle has occurred at Chez Nitnurse!!!
DS2 ( aged 20)disappeared upstairs tonight with cleaning products declaring he was going to "tidy" his room.:eek::eek: Methinks there may be a new girl on the horizon;)
30 minutes later on a pretend trip to the loo;) he asked for help.
We have rearranged everything and I now have 3 (very full) black bags of stuff to sell to the rag man:T:T:T
There is also a small bag of rubbish to throw out.:D
A very productive time which is all the more satisfying when I realised my decluttering seems to be rubbing off on my family:D:D:D:D
What a lovely night.
Hope you are all doing fine too.xxx

Trying.....Very trying- as my DH would say

nitnurse.. I went one better.. I had a major wobbly about the state of the children bedrooms (8, 10, 12 and 14) and flung a couple of boxes down the stairs and made the children put it in the bin.. They will either learn to put their crap away or I will put it away, in the bin!! Glad you got some progress though.. and you'll have to let us know re the girl or boy... can't make these assumptions
I flung 3 shelves from the disappeared larder unit, 2 huge cardboard boxes and a crate of toys flung in the bin. I have a wardrobe door to go too.. it was the only full length mirror in the house but it isn't any more so it can go.. I have released it.
I haven't had the energy to sort the ebay stuff yet but it is still high on my priority list.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Well done to all on progress and progress plans. As I was sat watching Hoarder I decluttered the magazine rack and space around my chair. I was astonished at how much had built up in just a couple of weeks. The recycling bag in the kitchen is now full again. Funny how that programme always triggers something. I also enjoyed the stories very much - but did enjoy the Dave Allen documentary even more. What an outstanding comedian and personality he was.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Currently, that phrase relates more to going out, playing music and behaving disgracefully than anything more constructive.
Considering I never had people visit the house when I was a kid, and it really wasn't something I was comfortable with as an adult (probably because of that), in the last 3 weeks, I've had a varying assortment of around 9 different friends here over at least seven times.
Oh, and DD has texted to ask if she can bring a friend and stay over this weekend. I said yes.
OK, I shall have to remove the corpse of the eight legged beastie one of the cats has left me on the floor of the upstairs bathroom, by then. But other than that, it doesn't look more than a few minutes' work to spruce the place up a bit more.
Maybe then I will have recovered suitably from the [STRIKE]hangover[/STRIKE] tiredness I seem to be experiencing at present.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Problem with last night's "Hoarder" for me was that I had a dream about being unable to get through a hoard of clothes and other piles of stuff...
Luckily, things weren't that bad when I woke up.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.
