well i think ive had a productive day,
    without being productive,
    if that makes any sense,
lost my internet and phone line this morning, couldnt sort it out before i left as i couldnt use the phone to ring my provider, everyone i tried to ring all had the engaged tone,
so had to go jc to make a phonecall to one of their departments from there. went to go look at carpet, but the carpet shop i wanted to use was closed today so never got to do that.
went to go pick up the paint the shop was sposed to have been having delivered today, hadnt had it delivered so didnt manage to get that.
went and had a cuppa just incase it was delivered this afternoon as they said they were expecting the delivery of paint any time.
hubby wanted to go and have alook round this place, not sure of shop is the right word, its an old church thats filled to the brim like aladdins cave. and i think i may have just fallen in love with some of the old furniture that was in there. the first beauroe? (sorry cant spell it lol) i seen i was informed was 1920/30s , the second wasnt given an age but it did look old. its thats packed in there, that you could literally feel lost, well we kinda did get lost in there lost track of time. looking at old mantle clocks and furniture etc.
looks like iwill be trying to sell more stuff to get some of it. need to just hope the sideboard that cought my eye will fit in the area id like it to go aswell. but it think looking it wont fit and if it does it will be a littel bit of a squeeze.
shame really at the way everything is stored in there, it could all have so much more potential and if sorted out right people could look at it better. we had to remove a numerouse amount of items, decorative plates, books, clocks and ornaments to get a decent ish look at the one i liked, was too much to move off the side board to get a good enough look at that. maybe one day when i got more time will go and look as he was about to close up as well.
best to go in and look at the furniture again when i get to that room, rather than jumping ahead as i seem to be doing now and then.

im going to finish my drink and then go find something to do as i cant do what i was going to do this evening.

Anirtak - take the measurements of where you want to put the furniture so when something catches your eye you'll know if it fits or not. Its a real bu**er when you find something that's perfect & get it home to find its an inch too big!!

Today I cleaned, tidied, polished, vacuumed upstairs:three bedrooms and hallway, not the bathroom (will try to do that this weekend.)

STILL didn't get to charity shop. But after spending alot of the last 3 days tidying and cleaning, everything is now back in it's place (except for a small bundle of papers next to where I sit on the sofa). So house looks nice and tidy.

I would have liked to iron a batch-lot of school uniforms, but don't have the energy or inclination (last fortnight I ironed all uniforms in the house for 4 children, and didn't need to do it again for another fortnight  ).At the moment I am back to holding up uniforms in the morning and saying "yeah-that will do",or the kids are putting on still-warm uniforms :o.

    Back to work tomorrow.Then 3 days off,work 4 days,then school holidays :j.

:) Can you get it before it gets away? Can you catch the junk mail before it hits the doormat and get it outta here? Can you head it off at the pass in the shops and in the street? Just because someone wants you to take a flyer or a freebie, it doesn't mean that you have to go for it

I'm actually quite good with the junk mail - the recycling box is just inside my front door and from being picked up in the communal landing, it only travels a few feet from the communal door to the recycling bin. (The neighbours seem to think junk mail is 'my' responsibility - I go on 'strike' every so often just so they get the message, but they generally hold out a week or so and I'm tripping over the stuff).

I also stopped bringing home the free newspapers and stopped buying magazines years ago, so there's progress on that front.

I just haven't put the bin out for awhile as I 'know' there's personal mail in the bottom of it and I haven't gotten around to picking it out yet.

We congratulated ourselves this morning as in the space of 2 hours, we got up, made beds, emptied the dishwasher, put the dwasher on, did a load of washing and hung it out, made lunch, emptied all the bins and put the bin bag out, put the food bin out, put away dry sheets and towels, dropped DD off and went to the dentist. Then driving on to work, we realised we had forgotten to bring the packed lunch. (We still had time to go back).

I also forgot to drop off a book to my brother.

Anyway, the main point is that the dehoarding over a very, very long timescale has allowed us to build new routines one at a time, so a lot more is being achieved in a short space of time, when it needs to be. I still feel like I've done a full day's work before I get to work but I guess that is what happens when you have children.

Today, I am very grateful to this thread.

Afternoon everyone :hello:- do hope you're managing to enjoy this lovely day, even if its only to get the washing on the line!
As it is so nice I decided to do some gardening. My old windowboxes needed clearing out ready for the summer plants. They were definitely looking somwhat shabby but perfectly good so I decided to paint them. Couldn't find any paint in the shed that I liked & then remembered I had a small stash of matchpots that I'd tried to Freecycle but no one wanted them. Mixed 5 of them together (all shaded of beige/ivory/cream) & did the windowboxes. They're drying in the sun now & look fab so I'm feeling very MSE :)

:T Nice one; double value as decluttering and re-purposing so I can see why you'd feel chuffed.

I've had quite a productive day in that I've been to work but have also done some housework and tidying. I also got down on bended knee and cleaned a strip of skirting board about 3 feet long which was very visible and looking manky and it's come up a treat. Some cleaning jobs give a lot of bang for their buck, don't they?

Took a bag of books to Hoxham on the way to work. Well, strictly speaking it was half a bag, but I so wanted them out of here that I decided to get rid anyway.

I have also sourced a particular kind of oven dish secondhand which I have been looking out for months to find the exact right thing and now I have it for £2 so pretty pleased.

:p Oh, and as a result of being polite-but-firmly-angry with my former utility provider on Monday, they had managed to finalise my account and refund my credit by Thursday, after nearly 2.5 months of fiddling around.

Such a relief to get that sorted out at long last............:rotfl:
