Morning all.
I've been a bit of a slacker lately but I have finally de-junked and binned a pair of worn out trainers. I bought their replacements (identical ones) back in June but the miser on my shoulder was wanting to get a bit more use out of the old ones.
When they actually started to come apart, I came to my senses and got rid of them this week. Might have been tempted to fish them out again but they are in a bag at the bottom of a big communal bin and therefore unreachable, so that's a relief.............:rotfl:
whitewing, sounds like you've had an exhausting night. Hope you'll be able to sneak forty winks at some point today.
I was looking at my bookshelf and trying to decide which of the books I've bought to read and then get rid and haven't yet read I should start on when I've finished my current library book and decided to go for the fattest one, so that I'll have the biggest space gain when it's gone.
How crazy is that?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I have decided that I need to clear all lot of my curtains and throws, its good to have options but the pile is about 5 feet high. Also more books back to CS their need is greater than mine. Posted 3 parcels this week full of gifts for friends as I did a craft fair and sold very little. I think I may send some more to charities as I reall cannot have it all hanging around till next Christmas. Problem is I have to keep busy whilst stuck at home looking after Oh, I get bored if Im not making things. Took a box full of decorations round to DS this morning that I had made. Its like the painting the forth bridge here...on and...on ....Clearing the junk to travel light

suzi, all my education was pre-computers so I've had to pick it up over time, inc doing classes to bring myself into employability.
Oh of course, I knew that would be the case with others but what I meant was that if you went on a computer course or had someone teach you you are likely to have been taught by someone who knew what they were doing and also on one or tow types of operating software...which is much more helpfulhaha.

yes, and i threw away more than what i replaced which was good, so i have more space now.
and the new things will last years
I sorted out 4 kitchen cupboards yesterday something clicked in my head and I couldnt stop.
After school run im going to hoover and dust top to bottom again and will see what else the day brings afterwards

Sorted out a bag of crafty and stationery bits I used to use with teaching learning difficulties groups. Gov't cutbacks mean that type of work is gone forever I think. All such jobs now in the hands of non-educational professionals.
It's hard to accept that when you liked the job so much, but sorting took place and a huge bag of really not useful bits went out.
The good stuff will be mostly rehomed. There are a few things, like bottles of PVA glue, that come in handy round the house and these are keepers. Though I will put all the glue in one bottle. I've discovered PVA can be used instead of polystyrene glue, so I will use it to put up the radiator foil.
I also discovered a couple of pairs of scissors, which pleased me, as I gave away a few pairs, and binned some useless poundshop snips, then was searching for something to cut with.
Pray tell, what is the messies thread?
So i have been AWOL for a while but some good decluttering has been happening at my house. Lots of toiletries thanks to the toiletries thread, BIG problem area for me :-D
Some more clothes out to cash for clothes, about 2 primark bags worth (large ones)
Lots of recycling sorted and out
Still much progress to be made but I do feel that I have made loads of progress since this time 2 years ago. Our living room at our current house actually looks like a proper, 'normal' living room...kitchen is getting there, upstairs is another story but the AMOUNT I have got rid of in 2 years...its quite astonishing for me :TDon't turn a slip up into a give up

DD's outgrown trousers and top have left the house today for a friend.
I also had a few more presents to wrap - genuine bargains picked up from threads on MSE. So the wrapping is done and the packaging stuff will go to recycling tomorrow. Because I was so organised (if I say so myself), I saved a lot of money on gifts this year. More importantly everything was paced out so I don't feel as shattered as normal for this time of year.
Dry clothes packed away and wet clothes hung up. It's so much easier to get rid of worn or outgrown items if the washing is done more frequently.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

I do believe it's this one My home is a mess.
Incidentally, the Hoarding Woes guy and his family have finished their epic task.
He had to get professionals in eventually, but he got there.

It's an awesome blog and I hope they leave it up there for people to read from the beginning. I won't forget the pictures of the outside hoard under tarps inc possum carcases. Ewww! You feel for the families living alongside this muddle for decades.
And what got me, as shots of the rooms emptying out appeared, was how big this home actually was, and how nice, but that poor dead lady had spent her final years in self-induced squalor. It's so apparent that hoarding to that degree is a mental illness.
Will be taking a bag to the charity shop after w*rk today and decluttering some Xmas cards into the post.
Keep up the good work, everyone.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

3 bin bags to the CS! :j and a space in my bedroom :j and I bought nothing except barm cakes while I was out despite going in tosco's and 2 charity shops. Have made 2 quilts and 1 1/2 throws as Christmas presents so that will make another gap when they go. 2 pairs of curtains in and a bag of curtain tape but as soon as I have shortened the curtains they are going off to Dd's. Am re-training my brain that a big bag full has to go before I buy even 1 ball of yarn.
Amazing to see the potential of the hoarders house on the blog. So sad that the hoarders had such an unhappy life.Clearing the junk to travel light

:T Well done, Ginny!
I can still remember when we hauled some (only some!) of Mum's yarn stash out of the cupboards and piled it on and around her bed and she said, in shock and awe What Have I Done?!
The loft is pretty full, too. I did suggest that she might want me to get up there and inventory it for her but I think she doesn't really want to know. She doesn't buy any more, though, and goes up there and furtles around until she finds something suitable for her needs and then comes back down again.
She did allow me to de-clutter her knitting patterns a few months ago, getting rid of 4 Lever arch files' worth, which was amazing. She stewed about this project for years and when we finally got down to it, it was no biggie. She keeps saying I don't miss those patterns a bit.:rotfl:
Flipped by the Hoxfam after work with my donation bag, a mixture of stuff; books, textiles, some crockery. One small leap for womankind.
I only went as far as Hoxfam, didn't go to the rest of the chazzers on the road, but I felt my shoulders lift as I left empty-handed. It wasn't a heavy bag, so the lessening of the weight must be psycological rather than physical.I call it un-shopping.
