YAY on new job roundtuit! my depression and anxiety often go hand in hand, so know how that feels - it's not a good combination! but you will get through it and excel :)

    thank you lobbyludd xx

I got up this morning - at 10am, but I did pick DS up from work at 1am so I think that's allowed - and made a list :T (As lobbyludd and anyone else who is visited by black dog and hi-anxiety will know, functioning with a brain seemingly made up of treacle and fluff isn't easy. Lists help).

Paying the electric bill was a priority today - so as I was looking for it :o I set aside any junk mail, newspapers etc and I've put them out for recycling. :T Ditto a small amount of cardboard that has been sat by the back door ( which I now exit v.e.r.y carefully ;) ).

I've decanted wild bird seed into it's container; WM is on; and every time I remember something I write it down - so it can't get lost in the treacle again :T I've also unearthed a diary and I'm writing appropriate stuff in there.

So only a little decluttering done so far - oh but I did take everything that was possibly/probably harmful to health out of the fridge and binned it  _pale_

    More later xx

    Indeed - congratulations roundtuit!

I seem to be floundering - new boiler installation held me back (although the engineer helpfully removed our old gas fire too), and non-functioning washing machine isn't helping.

If I haven't posted about ordering a skip by Wednesday please feel free to 'remind' me!

    Hi all

    Congratulations on the job roundtuit

Been lurking as not much dericharding has gone on, unless you count the weeds I've removed from my garden. I have spent the last few months tidying, planting, painting & weeding the garden, it's looking much better. This time last year I would not have had the energy to venture into the garden (except to cut the grass) as I was so overwhelmed with the state of the house.

Finally dropped some clothes off at the CS that had been in the car for at least 2 months!! But they're now gone. (Lady in CS was snotty as I interrupted her telephone call, but I was on a meter and it was about to run out. Got no thank you but hopefully the money they raise from the clothes will enable them to give someone comfort when they need it)

My shed is still a mess and I need to re-felt the roof but I am not in chaos in the house anymore!

I'm guessing stuff that had grown 3 heads or had already started turning into compost.

Well haven't done much as fell asleep after spag-bol!! ...for about 2hrs I think. had a quick burst of energy and have put 6 boxes (empty) in loft, theses I am allowing myself as are handy for xmas pressie wrapping. Also 2 small suitcases of my old quilt making stuff as just no room here until cupboards made and that could be weeks yet.

Still need to bag up spag-bol and put into freezer and put washing away, haven't even started on paperwork yet but Must do this tonight or tomorrow.

Only de-richarding has been a couple of boxes in recycle bin and some of the free papers. Oh and have hung a mirror up on landing as have been without a full length mirror for a month. Oh and also need to work out what to do with space I now have due to moving cd'd other night. The space is in unit in lounge so need to think what to put there as want to try and keep lounge more minimalist that the last one (not that I will ever be a real minimalist.!)

Must get on instead of mooching around on here!
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

    Hi Everyone,
Please may I join your thread?
Am a long term hoarder and want to move on.
I am hoping for some good suggestions to help.
I have ignored my hoarding for a couple of years. I have bursts but they fizzle out after a couple of days.
My main hurdle is that I start updating, sorting and decorating a room, then have some kind of interruption which sets me back.
I have bathroom half done waiting for tiling, then shower to install (3 years on now). Kitchen is similarly not finished, again tiles and flooring are waiting.
On plus side I have painted bedrooms and living room plus garden is kept tidy.
I have an "invisible room" full of boxes and other stuff. Invisible as I never "see" it! Who knows what is in there? It has accumulated when other rooms are dealt with.
It is so embarrassing as I need to sort the boxes room before I can have workmen in to finish the bathroom. You have to walk through that room for bathroom.
A family member said the bathroom was disgusting a few months ago. He is usually fairly supportive. I think he may have been trying to motivate me. He has offered to help but lives a long way away and has back problems, so I don't take up the offer.
Reading this thread I was touched by the honesty and understanding of posters.
I decided to ask you all for any ideas please as I can see no way out of this reclusive predicament.
    TIA

    Welcome wisterias

My advice and others will be along to give their tips too. What works for one person may not work for another so if something suggested doesn't work for you, do not feel a failure, just try another method until you find a way that works for you.

Ok my advice is to start small. Junk mail - put it straight in the recycling bin or if it has ID on it shred it. Go for the easy things first of all and maybe give yourself a 15 min time limit - how much can I get rid of in that time?

    Baby steps is the key

    Thanks Deco,
I have got a fair handle on new stuff. I don't buy and add little but still have a few paperwork boxes from over 10 years ago.
I moved over 5 years ago and my friend and I spent months on the sorting and packing. It was so much. In the last few weeks we just threw stuff straight into boxes and the remains of these are mostly what I am left with now.
My main problem is the bathroom. It is all so embarrassing.
I have a collection of boxes of books and I have just had a thought to start there by taking some to Oxfam book shop.
    As a new start.
I will admit I find it difficult to let go.
Anyone have a good mantra for when you are taking it to CS or tip?
    TIA
