  • Hi Fiftyeighter.
That`s one of the best things about being a mum - eventually you get to be a grandma and you get the best bits All Over Again!! My DS lives here since he split with his ex a few years ago. Now that they don`t have to live together they get on just fine, and both have new relationships that work. My DS has a lovely daughter (13), who lives with us half the time and her mum the other half. DGD is my best mate! DS`s girlfriend lives up North, so they just visit each other every few weeks, and that works fine (because she doesn`t have to live with the messy so&so!!) though they hog the phone line most nights.
Well, a week today I`ll be having my surgical `de-clutter`. I`m not brave, by the way, just trying to be! And all the snow, and not having the bins collected are probably quite useful distractions. How`s that for finding something positive!? I never liked snow even when I was little, certainly never thought I`d find something positive to say about it!
    Take care. x
  • Strange isn't,t it how couples seem to get on better when they part, that is after the initial bad feelings. So glad you have your DGD some of the time. My DD and I are like that, really close. Lovely isn't it.
I,ve been trying to hem the 2 dogs in to a piece of ground 12 x 12 by the back door. Between them they are absolutely ruining the garden. It's lovely to watch them playing and chasing one another BUT they,ve churned up the lawn dreadfully and the puppy just treads all over the borders and pulls all the plants up. Little monkey. I really need to get a proper fence put in but the cost would be too much for me at the moment. So for now it's all odds and bobs. Looks awful but it is keeping them contained. I feel dreadfully guilty though.
I always loved the snow but perhaps that's because we rarely had it as bad as other places. Though I can remember as a child being cut off by the snow. No deliveries could get in. But our parents managed.
My favourite night of the week tonight, dominoes, I love it. Lol how sad am I? It's such a good night though. Getting to meet up with people, most of whom are smashing. They are mostly men that play.....lucky me. But we do have a few lady players.
Goodness I sound such a bore. Sorry. But as I said before it helps just to chatter and to get a response just makes my day.
I wish you lots of luck for your op. I,ll be thinking of you.take care Emm-in-a- pickle.
  • Hi, hope you enjoyed your dominoes. I don`t think it`s `sad` at all, a good old-fashioned sociable game, and probably safer than darts! (I`m rubbish at both and highly dangerous with the latter!) Our local doesn`t do darts (just as well!) but there`s always someone at the dominoes - they don`t do it all on one night though, usually. They are really nice folks there too. We don`t have a regular pattern for going there because of shifts (when I`m not off sick) but if we did I`d go for the pub quiz. Not that I`d know many answers, but I like having a go. I`m sure your lawn will recover when the weather improves, but don`t feel guilty, as long as the dogs get a `walkie` as well.
You must stop apologising you know. I bet you don`t bore your folks with telling them what`s just happened on `The Archers`, do you? (I do!!) x
