  • I'll go on the morris dnacer team please and do the exercise challenge again. Been a bit lax on the exercise front this month and I can tell I'm losing some of my muscle tone already so need to step this up for May!

Adding 1 hour for more cleaning today and also did a few sit-ups and press ups, going to try and do these every day at the very least if short on time but definately need to get the DVDs going again!

Aww, keep plodding Beanie ;) I'm sure things will turn around soon :)

Well, I'm supping on a gorgeous smoothie today - strawberries, cucumber, protein powder (choc flavoured, lol!) milk, and a bit of sweetener. It's surprisingly filling, and looks like it's gonna last me most of the morning, lol.

I'm a little concerned about the recommended protein levels on this diet though. As a 5' 7 woman it says I'm supposed to have at least 375g of protein a day! I've totted up the protein in my shake and it comes to 35g. Looking through the fridge and cupboards... a tin of tuna has a similar amount, and a large portion of gammon is also 35g. Am I really supposed to have over ten portions of protein a day!?!?! Is that even possible?!? Surely that's not good for anyone.
I've never had to count protein before so have never really known how much we 'should' be eating, but after a quick look into it it appears that bodybuilders tend to aim for 1 gram of protein per lb of weight. I really doubt that I should be aiming for around double the protein levels of a bodybuilder!

I think I'm going to scrap the 375g idea and aim for 175g a day, that sounds do-able, and isn't overly excessive.

Lolly, how many grams of carbohydrate does it recommend?

Well I've just been reading into it more and it seems that the 375g is of 'lean protein foods', so rather than counting a tin of tuna as 35g of actual protein, I'd count it as 115g of protein rich food. Hmmm, not very precise. This article says that the aim is for at least 1.5g of protein per 1 lb of body weight. I think I'm going to download the ebook (if they have one?) so I can get the info first hand, then know an exact amount to aim for.

From what I've seen Jess, there are no specific recommendations. You are able to eat as much fruit and veg as you want, and are allowed the odd small portion of wholegrains. So it's pretty low carb, but not super low like some other diets. The info differs slightly between articles, so I think I need to go to the source and read up properly. I'll let you know what I find.

Despite the confusion, I do think I'll stick this one out for a while as it's encouraging me to get more sleep (7.5 hours last night! :j Hopefully I'll make it to 8 hours tonight), and there is a lot of logic behind it. This morning's smoothie was delicious, and although know I'll be hungry today, I'll have consumed a lot of fruit and veg, and everything I need to get through the day - it'll be like a mini detox each week! :D
