  • I once worked at a place where the 10 all-female staff used to take it in turns to take the staff-room tea-towels home at the weekend to wash them. They always brought them back beautifully ironed so I did the same when it was my turn. Didn't want to be seen as a lazy !!!!!! but I still wonder whether they only ironed them because they thought they needed to make a good impression:rotfl:

My mother in law irons everything! and I mean everything and she NEVER has any hanging about for days on end! She washes when she finishes work on Wednesday and by thursday evening its all ironed and put away! I have to add that there are only 2 of them now but she was the same when she had 3 kids at home!! when I moved in with my OH I warned him, I'm lazy don't expect your pants ironing!!!!! I only iron his work stuff if it really needs it! but won't do bedding, towels, PJs, underwear of any sort! I wear a tshirt under a shirt for work and only iron the bit you see under my shirt!!!! i knew someone who used to iron only the cuffs, collars and the front of hubby's shirts because thats all they saw of it!!! Liked her thinking!! I loathe ironing with a passion almost as much as mowing the lawn!!!!
I have lately been very good in keeping up with it but only because I don't like being stood there for hours on end usually on a Sunday evening. I stick ER on and can iron as long as there's something good on the telly!!!!

    Erm, I also don't iron!! :o

I really don't see the point - and I work in an office, having to look smart every day, as does my partner!

Seriously, take stuff out of the machine when it's done, put it onto hangers, don't tumble dry..........quite simple really.......

If you take stuff out when wet / damp and fold it or hang it straight away, wrinkles aren't forming!!!!

With the thousands of things I have to do, frankly ironing comes riiiiiiiiight down the bottom of the list, and then some!

I love ironing, but I don't do anything that doesn't need it. A good shake and bedclothes etc are fine to go back onto the bed. But I love linen and cotton clothes and they are a joy to iron. The secret is to be in an interesting place (I am either outside in the garden, or just inside looking out), with a talking book on or a play on the radio, and have your iron ONE SETTING HIGHER than recommended by the label. Oh, and lots of steam.

A drop of essential smelly oil in the iron reservoir makes for a pleasant ironing experience too!

I also don't iron :rotfl: I iron hubby's shirts very occaisionally, if he is going somewhere posh. Everything else gets folded or hung and hopefully any creases will drop out :p

  • Absolutely zilch. I've embraced the current fashionable 'distresssed' look with gusto. Hopefully by the time it's out-of-date I'll be old enough to move on to wearing beige, non-iron, crimpelene skirts, and nylon blouses.

(Personally, I think crumpled bed linen looks erotic).
