Fabulous Gingervamp!!! :j And a brilliant goal for next year too
You met an astronaut?! How cool - there must be a good story there.
2013 was pretty tough. I had to take a postponement as I had a miscarriage (:(), but finally submitted my thesis on 29th November. I will hear the results in March. Yaaaaayyyyyy!
I'm also pregnant with a new baby
so I hope it all goes well this time. :A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
I'm so sorry to hear that you lost a baby. Been through that myself. I hope everything goes well with this pregnancy. (((hugs)))0

Well I sort of achieved this.
I did get offered a much better paid job but when I told my boss, she didn't match the offer but made me an offer good enough to stay.
I also managed as a result to pay off my debts alot more as a result but whether it was £1K or not I'm not sure.....did clear one though that I wasn't expecting to but that was down mainly to selling some gold on a site recommended by Martin (other sites/gold selling establishments were consulted first)2014 Target;
To overpay CC by £1,000.
Overpayment to date : £310

1. Maintain my weight loss and continue to tone up
Not perfect but by and large this is a yes. I gained a bit but am losing it again. Not that great on the toning up more though
2. Improve my flexibility and strength
Hmm this is on the list again for this year though I guess I maintained where I was which is something
3. Declutter my house and tackle nagging tasks
I cleared out most of my books and a lot of clothes over this year. So done a bit at least and have really been trying not to add any more stuff. Also tackled some nagging tasks though it's in the nature of nagging tasks to keep coming back. I will keep going with this next year but try to be more specific about what i mean by it lol
4. Streamline my finances and live within my budget
Some unexpected expenses this year so not quite as good on this as I could be. I'd love to be able to save and that's not happening despite earning a good salary. Still work to do
5. Continue to devote at least 3 hours a week to my professional development
I have done amazing things at work this year and feel this is a box I can really tick, I've done a lot of personal development to enable me to strengthen my professional development :T:T though it has hampered me on some of my other goals.
6. To build stronger relationships with friends and family
Another box I can largely tick, I have really tried to build some links and find ways of connecting with people again. Still more to do though!
I'm pleased that mostly it's about continuing to bed down behaviours that I've already established
Good thread!!
Just to echo the last point, this is a great thread.. I hope there's another one for 2014, will be interested in hearing how everyone else gets on!0 -
Good thread. Mine are:
1. Selling the business
2. Getting the living room and kitchen re decorated
3. Have some time off being a housewife, I've never not worked.
Well the business got sold :j and I'm now completing the transition period.
The kitchen and living room never got redecorated but it should be next year when (fingers crossed) l can go down to 2 days work a week and breathe a little, life's been hectic and stressful for a good few years. I also want to declutter the loft and garage and have an immaculate garden all year!
Bad points were that my parents are divorcing - and not amicably on dad's part
so next year l would like to see them both settled.
Gingervamp glad you're still here lol, good luck for the same next year, and who did you meet was it John Glenn? He is a little hero of mine.
Lara, sorry to hear you lost a baby so best of luck with your pregnancy and results. X

For my son to get a job
For my daughter to meet a boyfriend
For my husband to finish off the kitchen and dining room so that we can sit at the table for Christmas
For me to get back to the gym after hurting my arm and ribs in a fall
My son has been promised an apprenticeship in the New Year.:j
Still no boyfriend.
The kitchen and dining room have not been finished but we have a new dining table. My husband is booking the first two weeks in January as holiday to finish the dining room.:)
I started going to zumba in November but have pulled a muscle while doing it so can no longer go.

If I decide to get a different job, I want to: (I got a different job!)
-settle into a new job, with a good work life balance
Done, and done. Love my new job and realise how much my old job had been sucking the life out of me and making me miserable. Much, much happier with where I am career wise now.
-get the ball rolling on either a large extension or put the house on the market to move to a bigger house
This one isn't relevant any more as I sadly came into a large inheritance mid year, so we need to make different decisions about where we are going. I don't have the inheritance in hand yet, so can procrastinate about this one for a little longer.
-Work on my patience with the children, and make sure I enjoy the the time I spend with them, specifically work out how to deal with their mess without it driving me crazy
Erm...I *think* I'm a bit better, probably because I'm a lot less stressed and happier in my new job, meaning that I'm less wound up in general. Still have my moments, though. This probably needs to carry over to next year, because I can still do better!

I've been watching this thread recently to see if it had been updated. Nothing. Then I don't check for a week or so & this morning I thought I'd update and it seems there have been many like minded folks!determined_new_ms wrote: »what a good idea! Nothing like stating goals to work towards!
Ok my goals are:
1. Be confirmed in my new permanent job (current contract ends in July but I am not happy where I am so am filling in applications & going for interviews without much luck at the moment)
Got a new job in May. Was confirmed in post 7th Nov. Much much much happier, challenged and enjoying my new role & got a £6000 payrise :T
2. Have renovated kitchen (almost finished), installed bathroom & decorated bedrooms in our first home
Kitchen is done, although there are a few little jobs that need completing. Bathroom is being finished over the next week or so. Spare bedroom done, our bedroom hasn't been started. Next room is the hallway as oh felt the entrance to the house needed doing. He has stripped it, just waiting to see when db can plaster
3. Spend Christmas with my dd and soon to be born gd
planning to yes
4. Completed Tefal course
didn't do this one. Have been too busy & priorities changed
5. Have £2000 in savings
have £3000. Hoping to increase that to £10000 by this time next year
Pretty pleased with my progress this year. Just goes to show if you set yourself goals you can achieve what you want! Going to think about what I want over the next year

1. To have found a new job in my line of work and be settled again
Didn't find a new job however I became self-employed and love it.
2. Be a stone lighter
Haven't been consciously trying to lose weight but am becoming more aware of portion sizes and have lost around 6 pounds
3. Have either passed my driving test or be well on the way learning
This hasn't happened as have been too busy with (1)0
