I need help but im ashamed!

I'm feeling a bit embarrassed myself, as I rarely clean behind the tv or pull the sofas out. I can totally understand how someone who has to go to hospital every other day would find it hard to do these big cleaning jobs and I don't think the OP should feel embarrassed. If you look in the yellow pages you should be able to find a company who will do a one-off or perhaps a seasonal deep-clean for you, meaning you can just get on and do the little day-to-day jobs that you can manage. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. For the past 8 years i have been going to the hospital every other day for treatment that keeps me alive and its very draining. I do what i can around the house (i'm not old). I've always been a tidy person, but now i cant keep up with things, by dinnertime i'm shattered. I cant move furniture or kneel down and feel my house is a disgrace. Although its no where near as bad as the ones on tv (like on ocd cleaners). I would love to get someone in to deep clean? but feel too ashamed to let them see it . I dont have piles rubbish all over or anything, just dirty skirting boards and the sofas and tv havent been pulled out for ages. I dont have anyone that can help me and feel it would be too much to expect from a 'cleaner'. Can anyone suggest anything? and what can i do about my embarrassment?
If you live near me, I'd be more than happy to pop by and do these things for you in return for a cuppa.
I'm possibly in the minority but I pull out my tv, sofa and beds weekly, it keeps me fit and I enjoy cleaning:eek:. I have high standards and able to do these things, but if its bothering you get some help in, I wouldn't hesitate to do so if I was unable to do it myself.
My offer still stands:D

Merlot - sit tight. I'm sending round the men in white coats. You're clearly not all there! :rotfl:0 -
Seriously, don't feel embarrassed, my Mum was in the same position, she couldn't keep up her cleaning as she is elderly.
I sorted her out a cleaner and it is working out perfectly. The cleaner did a deep clean over the first two visits and has caught up with everything and an hour is almost too much.
My mum is able to keep up with things now and the cleaner keeps everything topped up.0 -
Thankyou ever so much for all your replies. Its really my living room and kitchen that i want doing. MY bedroom and bathroom are simple and i can manage those. I think im going to bite the bullet and get some quotes for a deep/spring clean . Then maybe i could get a regular cleaner in to maintain it. I dont know of any people that have cleaners so i guess it would be trial and error! Any hints or tips for looking for a good cleaner? I would tell them what i would like doing (no poop involved!) What a nice bunch of people you are, you've made me laugh and cry with your replies. Thankyou.0

I would start by asking people you know - they may not have a cleaner but they may know others who do.
A local shop is another good place to ask - they pick up a lot of information about their customers - who has a cleaner, who does cleaning work, etc.
If you can't get a personal recommendation, I would suggest going with one of the smaller, local companies. You will have to commit to a contract but your cleaner should also be insured and police checked.

Just curious - how much do cleaners generally cost for an hour?
Considering it now

Blimey, I rarely pull out the TV and dust behind it. For one thing I don't want to be moving all the wires about. It works at the moment, move a few wires around and something is bound to get unhooked. I think it's safer to leave it as it isEarly retired - 18th December 2014

It's going to vary around the country and also whether you provide all the materials or the cleaner brings her own.
I pay £10 an hour which is a bit more than I need to but I wouldn't want to work for less. There's a lot of "dead time" with cleaning and caring jobs where you're travelling between jobs plus you usually need to keep a car on the road.0
