Cleaners are people. Just like any of us.
People are generally kind and understanding.
I would cheerfully come and clean for you without giving it a second thought as you are ill and need help. And I'm not even a cleaner, I'm a SAHM.
The point is, I don't think any cleaner would be remotely phased in this kind of situation.
Bite the bullet and call someone. The quicker you take action, the quicker you stop feeling anxious or worried about the situation.
Do it!

OP if people didnt need cleaners, there wouldnt be any:)
people do need them, and for all sorts of reasons
perhaps you know someone with a cleaner? you could have them round and chat, explain you wish a deep clean and then "upkeep"
even if they cant do the whole house immediately, a deep clean of one room, and the usual in the rest until each room has had a thorough going over
please dont be embarrassed
if you needed help for the garden or to fix your car you wouldnt be
this is no different
i hope you find someone you are comfortable with soon0 -
For the past 8 years i have been going to the hospital every other day for treatment that keeps me alive and its very draining. I do what i can around the house (i'm not old). I've always been a tidy person, but now i cant keep up with things, by dinnertime i'm shattered. I cant move furniture or kneel down and feel my house is a disgrace. Although its no where near as bad as the ones on tv (like on ocd cleaners). I would love to get someone in to deep clean? but feel too ashamed to let them see it . I dont have piles rubbish all over or anything, just dirty skirting boards and the sofas and tv havent been pulled out for ages. I dont have anyone that can help me and feel it would be too much to expect from a 'cleaner'. Can anyone suggest anything? and what can i do about my embarrassment?
Hi OP
please don't be embarrassed, there really isn't any need. It's not your fault, and you can't help it.
Are you able to look online for a care company? The care company that i will be working for (got the job in Friday!) doesn't just do physical care, they also offer domestic services like cooking and cleaning, or cleaning only.
I am not sure how much it costs, but i do know that you don't have to have regular slots if you don't need/want to.
companies like this are used to deeper cleans.0 -
And as a side note-i am trying to set up as a SE cleaner, and would happily take on deep cleans such as this.0

(((hugs))).
Is it about the house being untidy/dusty, or us it because you can't do the things you used to be able to do and are having to get your head round it all.
Would it really upset you if you weren't ill?
As others have said, no one minds a bit of dust xxx

Hugs to you. Please don't feel ashamed. Going to the hospital every other day must be very draining indeed.
If you have a need for it (which it sounds like you do) then - MSE coming out here! - try contacting Social Services. I know you said you're not old but Age UK are good for advice on this sort of thing. You might be entitled to help around the house which you didn't expect.0 -
I work for a cleaning company and will second, third and fourth everything that's already been said.
There's nothing more tedious than going to a job that barely needs cleaning! I would also say (in my experience) that you are of a minority if you would normally pull out your furniture to clean behind/underneath it. I very rarely do it in my own home, even though I do it as routine in other peoples homes.
You have absolutely nothing to feel ashamed about, what you are describing is completely what we expect when going to a job and it gives us great satisfaction to know we've actually made a difference when we leave!
Now when we start talking human feces and vomit in places other than the toilet bowl with a customer who has absolutely no excuse for these things, that's the time when shame comes into the equation :eek:Some people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass

I'd rather nothing, since you asked so nicely.
Maybe you're confusing cleaner with cat sitter?Whom.
But nevermind.
Carry on pawning off you're responsibilities - let's focus on the matter in hand.Yuk, what next, asking the cleaner to pick up dog poo from the lawn?
Back to IHD, don't worry, get a cleaner in, but surely due to your health problems, isn't there help available from SS or whomever?
I'm with LS on this - Yes, I would expect a cleaner to clean the cat litter tray, and yes, pick up dog poo if I ask. They are a cleaner you are paying them to clean. Thats their job!

I wouldn't say that's part of a cleaner's job.
I've always found it best to talk through what you want with a potential cleaner and find one who is happy to do what you want.
Some just want to come into a reasonably tidy house and hoover, dust, mop floors and surfaces.
Others are quite happy to do tidying, sort out pets, do washing or ironing and all sorts of extras. If you get a gem like that, pay him/her well and show your appreciation!0 -
Jaysus - I'm lost for words. Cleaners do housework - have you ever had one?I'm with LS on this - Yes, I would expect a cleaner to clean the cat litter tray, and yes, pick up dog poo if I ask. They are a cleaner you are paying them to clean. Thats their job!
