Teething and sore bottom

Plain old vaseline will form a barrier. I swore by it when mine were younger.
Also, when mine had colds I would wipe a wee bit vaseline on the bridge of their noses, worked wonders for their breathing at night.
How? There's nothing medicinal in Vaseline?!Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

Exactly. Nothing that will irritate. It forms a barrier over the rash which in turn stops anything else irritating it and making it worse. In my experience teething rash clears up pretty fast without the need for medicines.0 -
Another vote for metanium and anbesol liquid for the gums! The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Off topic, but we use Vaseline under noses when there are colds as a barrier to stop that soreness from running noses that children tend to get.0 -
I used Bepanthen nappy cream when they did have a rash but always used Ashton and Parsons Infants Teething powder (little sachets taken orally) which seemed to soothe the stomach and stop the poo causing the terrible nappy rash. It worked like a dream on my babies.0

When Andrew's bum was sore (generally thrush-related), I stopped using baby wipes and switched to cotton wool & warm water, then a clean flannel to pat dry. It was as though using the wipes left his bottom a little damp, which would aggravate the rash.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Sorry, I meant the bridge of the nose bit!Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
I was given Sudocrem to use following a colonoscopy, and it stings like heck on sore skin. For that reason I would no longer use it on my children's nappy rash. We had success with cleaning bums with pure olive oil and cotton wool, followed by a thin layer of metanium.0

I am not at all a fan of sudocrem. When my son had really bad nappy rash my mil suggested the raw egg whites, however he had a really bad allergic reaction to that so just be wary.
I swear by bepanthen, I apply it at the first hint of nappy rash to both my son and daughter and it clears it right up0 -

I have no idea how or why it works. It was a tip passed to me by my mum and I swore by it, it worked on all four of mine as babies with stuffy noses.0
