Sa if hubby not requesting drinks/food ask if you can see drs and ask them to refer to dietician ( offer supplements or suggest Iv I drip to keep him hydrated
Sometimes you have to take the role of the medics and think for them and just nudge them along. they are often ruled by budgets and look for cheapest option not what is best for Mr sa. or you.

Put request in writing If you can keep a communication diary rule up one your self A4 size bright coloured
date time fluids offered amount. given by
    food offered amount given by.
bed sores where position changed when/time rolled by
Wash given bed bath/shower/top and tail/bath date time by
    meds given
    chat/past time of day
    bed changed
    clothes changed

If you involve the ward matron /dr/consultant in this as you have concerns due to hubby not being able to request any of above.
you request that you know its not a private hospital but nhs. you are all there to help your hubby to achieve his best outcome to become a passenger on this brain tumour train ride.

You need to be reassured that while you are not in hospital hubby is having basic care and it is recorded. You need to have reassurance that they are doing there duty to your hubby. The staff would be doing this and keeping your mind at ease.

My hubby due two operations Double hernia and full knee replacement. I will have a large A4 folder at bedside with a list of his medical problems doctor/consultant who look after him
various hospitals and there different hospital numbers.
As hubby has times when he looks and you believe he is following conversation but brain is like a toddler and he is not taking information in. Today with seizure nurse he tried to get her to change meds as he believes it has made him put on weight. I will have to double/treble check he takes them or we will be back to daily/nightly seizures. Hubby does not know he is having them it just us who see them they can be quiet scary to see,

be strong and if a drink helps you sleep have one or two glasses.
    not too many bottle days!!
There is a carer group if you need extra support

  • Hi SA,

I have been thinking about you all day and wondering how you were getting on.

Keeping busy definitely helps. when the horror comes sometimes you can't do anything else but go with it. I feel for you SA. I remember those moments of cold horror. Busy, small goals, milestones, routine. They get you away from them.

Tuna's advice re the hospital is spot on. It is so hard because the nurses do an AMAZING job but it helps for your peace of mind.

sending you love, sleep and my prayers

    Buffy xx

    Thanks once again everyone

Andrea - they are keeping a chart monitoring his food and drink intake at the moment. Guess they will put him on a drip if he carries on not eating and not drinking much. The nurse said they would intervene if the situation went on. Your poor hubby is certainly going through the mill with the ops on top of everything else.

Nothing to report on the Mr SA front since last night. However, on the finance front - angry with nPower again. Remember last week when they promised me a refund of my £43 overpayment plus £43 goodwill gesture in the bank and the same again reflected on my account? Well all that's happened since then is that £43 has been credited to my account. Not a sausage in the bank. Phoned them today and had to go through the whole story again. Once again I was promised the £43 overpayment would go back into the bank but the £43 goodwill gesture was the £43 credited to my account. I now have to wait another 3-5 working days to receive my £43 back. I know my mind isn't firing on all cylinders at the moment but I'm pretty sure I was right in what they said last week. However, as I've nothing in writing I'm stuffed. Really really angry with them now and will definitely be moving on from them when the year is up in January. Could really do without all this stress at the moment! GRR!

Just a quickie to say Mr SA was a lot better tonight. He has had something to eat and drink and we went with him for a CT scan. So for today he is ok. Learning to take one day at a time.
