Hi SA, your diary has been unputdownable. I've neglected all others since I found it. Thank you so much for sharing. I'm rooting for you and your DH to keep finding you the way through life's challenges.... you seem to have more than your fair share..

Hello all - and welcome Money for Dreams, thank you for reading my diary, the last 3 years have been interesting that's for sure!

The cat is fine - his legs are working better now, he's eating well and is alert. My ankle is ok too - I pointed out to him that he's lucky it wasn't a small child or frail old lady he crashed into.

The £9k we would have to put towards adaptations is towards the £30k the council would be prepared to spend. Which would be great if we wanted an extension but we only want the cupboard under the stairs converting into a toilet/shower room for Mr SA. However, the OT recommended an extension so Mr SA can have a downstairs existence if need be. She said that we would be expected to get a loan for the £9k but I pointed out that as I still don't know if I'll have a job at the end of July I wouldn't be able to get a loan. She said if I could get in writing from a lender that I can't get a loan the council would accept that. I said I'd leave it until I know where I stand job-wise.

Can't believe it's May - the weather doesn't feel like May at the moment. I've been really cold today even with the heating on.

I've set myself a new 31 day challenge for May, same as the April one but this time I must remember to keep track. I know I didn't hit a few of my April targets, I tend to lose the plot after the first few days. So this is how it looks:

    12 workouts
    500,000 steps
    8 no spend days
    12 alcohol free days
    Declutter 20 areas
    Lose 5lb

Plus catch up with my credit card as there is still £405.23 on it outstanding but not payable thankfully until the end of May. A good portion of this has come from the extra spending on Mr SA's birthday which has highlighted the fact I do not have a birthday budget. I have my VSP to cover Christmas and DS's and DD's birthdays but no budget for Mr SA's, DGD's and my birthdays - plus there will be an extra one when DGS makes an appearance next month.

Talking of my VSP it now holds a very respectable £345.56.

Today has been a no spend day despite Mr SA's attempts to spend. So one box ticked already for May. Seriously if he was in control of the budget we would be totally skint and thousands in debt - he has always been useless with money, I can't blame it on his brain damage. I told him today is a no spend day and he said I read too many magazines that give me daft ideas about challenges and not spending!

A decluttering box has been ticked as I've rearranged everything in my home gym, thrown a few things out and given it a really good clean.

And I am about to tick a third box by going in my nice, tidy, clean gym and doing workout number 1 of May.

Here's to a fabulous May to us all

Cant imagine many people would have that.
    Could maybe manage 90 quid!!!!

Sadly its measured on level of salary of the household Beanielou, with the expectation, you can go without everything to save for it..... we investigated the grant for our wet room, and was told we would get 1 or 2% of cost if we were lucky .......

Hello all - can't believe it's back to work tomorrow - although I feel like I'll be getting more of a rest at work. Mr SA and the dog occupy most of my time at home.

Today we have been to our local Costa, then on to Aldi, then back home to take the dog on the park before it started to rain. Just got sat down for lunch when DS and family appeared. They were here for 3 hours! Don't want to sound mean but I had loads to do today and could've done with them leaving a bit earlier. So everything has been done in a rush and I still haven't done my meal plan for the week, will have to do this tonight when I sit down after dinner.

So the upshot is I need to get off my laptop and get on with it.....
