Please don't give the vets huge amounts of money for flea & worm treatments, any good pet shop or agricultural stroe can sell you flea and worm treatments and they are so easy to apply. If you're not sure, ask to speak to the SQP in the store. They are trained to give you the info that you need. Its just a bad day, Not a bad life .. :cool:0

Hello Sun.A, :hello:
Glad to hear MrSA is doing so well, and hope he can soon return home - is there any preparation you can do in the house now, to make it as easy as possible for him?
This might be looking at how your furniture is placed; make sure walking routes are unobstructed. Can the stairs be avoided (assuming your house has stairs)? If you've got a downstairs toilet then could MrSA have a bed on the ground floor?
Maybe such adaptations won't be necessary, but if MrSA is a bit wobbly the hospital will hang onto him longer to avoid possible accidents at home. You can get away with not having a ground floor bath - good opportunity for a giggle and splash [some hands-on affection between you], as you improvise a good wash all over.Get a strong helper to go upstairs behind MrSA when he does want a proper bath/shower - this is a good task for a male neighbour/family member who offers help and asks you to specify what you need them to do.
..Just a thought.
Sun.A I am in awe at your success with the cash-back thing! ..Joined ages ago then discovered that whatever I wanted wasn't included, so gave up.
Agree with the others that there are much better/cheaper places to buy regular medication than from a UK vet (thought mine was having a laugh when she wanted £23 for the same drug Dear Spanish Vet charges 1.50€ for!).
Hope you and MrSA are both having a good day today.0 -

the flea treatment sold in shops is not worth the money. they don;'t work. Stronghold or Advocate are best, they only cost about £20-£25 for 3 mths worth.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500 -

Best win so far - holiday to Florida0 -
Oh gosh look at all these posts!! Don't know where to start. Thank you all so much!
Tuna I knew your hubby was in hospital but not you too! Hope you are both getting on ok.
Re flea treatment dog has Advocate. Now got 3 months supply. I get the cats flea stuff off Internet - it's ok but not as good as stuff from vets. Can't afford all 3 of them to be flea treated at vets! I go to Companion Care inside Pets at Home and find them cheaper than small vet practice.
Robin - unfortunately we have no downstairs toilet. Hoping by the time he comes home he will be able to get up the stairs. They are working on this at hospital. He is doing really well with his mobility.
Mr SA was good tonight no adverse reaction to chemo at the moment. He's eating well and feels fine. We all turned up tonight so he had a load of us round the bed.
Keep me off eBay!!! I was watching 2 items which were due to finish during visiting time so I put minimum bid on each never thinking I'd win. Well I have now bought a brand new with tags Monsoon top for £5.75 including postage. It is lovely though! I didn't win the other thing.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Glad to hear that DH is feeling ok from the chemo and working his way to getting home soon xx0

Glad to hear OH is doing well, Sun.
RE the flea treatments. I find it's worth the money I have to pay to keep my cat flea free as he's always out and about.0 -
Time to get a grip on myself spending wise. After paying off what I'd spent on the Tesco credit card I now have just under £300 to last until next payday at the end of the month. And I would like to pay some more off Barclaycard out of this! So no more looking at eBay!!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Hello all
After doing so well recently Mr SA wasn't too good tonight. He has very low salt levels which is making him tired and a bit confused. The doctor said this could be caused by the extra fluid they have been giving him to protect his kidneys whilst on the chemo. Another possibility is lymphoma causes low salt levels. He is on a very low fluid intake at the moment and they are monitoring him regularly. They might move him to a side room to keep an extra eye on him. He slept most of the time I was there and didn't want any dinner. Hopefully he will start to pick up soon. He was bound to have a bad day at some stage after all the good days. There is some good news though - the chemo drug is no longer in his system.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0
