Hello all - quick update while I've got a minute.
Mr SA has bought a new lawnmower £109! To give him his due the old one had conked out and it was quite old so justified expenditure really. His carer took him to B&Q. There is to be a review of his care package the week after we get back off holiday. Personally I think he still needs the carer, he only does 10 hours a week now, and he gets him out and about which wouldn't happen if he was on his own. His OT did a home visit yesterday and she had been looking at his medical notes and she told him his brain damage is affecting the part of his brain that controls motivation (tell me about it!). I've to leave him a list of things to do during the day, obviously nothing too strenuous. He asked her if he could go back to work and she said definitely not at the moment as he's at high risk of starting up seizures again. He has to go for physio at the rehab unit tomorrow.
Have bought myself a shiny new project book from the pound shop today. You know I like plans and lists and I'm going to use it for my budget and diet plans. Don't quite know how yet but it's a start. They seem to be interlinked so I need to work on them at the same time. I have found in the past that writing everything down I eat helps me stick to a plan and maybe the same principle will apply to budgeting. Although Mr SA plays a big part in the sabotage of both! Bless him!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
I still marvel at how complex the brain is. Mr Lucky is sometimes the opposite and has far too much motivation. He can't sit still!!

Happy Friday all!
Have paid £3.52 into VSP today so that now has £199.51 in it - so close to £200!
More expense - got to take dog to vets tomorrow as she's having pooping problems (too much of it - yuk!). Hopefully nothing serious, she's insured so anything expensive should be covered but hopefully a change of diet might sort it out. But I need to get her checked over for peace of mind. Vets is a couple of miles from home and no direct buses, Mr SA won't be able to walk that far so it should be fun going on 2 buses with dog. Personally I'd walk it on my own with the dog but I know Mr SA will want to come with me.
Got travel insurance for Ibiza and it was £31 for the week with certificate proving Mr SA's lymphoma is declared and covered by the policy. Used Medisafe again who I used for the last holiday, got it via Money Supermarket.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Hope dog is ok.

No wonder I can't stick to budget - Mr SA has secretly spent £17 at local petrol station and £15 in Primark. Saw petrol spend on cc statement today and found Primark receipt in kitchen. His carer took him to get petrol for lawn mower the other day but does it really cost £17 to fill a petrol can? When questioned he said this time last year I would've loved to moan at him for buying stuff. Guess how Primark spend came about? He wanted to prove to himself he wasn't useless and got bus into town, had a coffee and went to Primark ON HIS OWN!!!! Partly pleased he managed it but partly worried because he was so lucky he didn't fall or go dizzy. He admitted he was very nervous but wanted to see if he could do it. Now he's moaning about feeling ill because he's done too much. Luckily bus stop, coffee shop and Primark are only short walking distances. But still!!!!
Aside from that we have had to have Pizza Hut pizza tonight for dinner (his choice). Disappointed with it quite frankly - it was lukewarm and undercooked. I ended up putting it in oven. Waste of £10.
Got a good deal from Wahanda for local beauty salon £10 off manicure/pedicure which I was getting done anyway for holiday. So pleased with that.
Really need to catch up with other diaries - am getting behind!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -

 to Mr SA going walkies on his own!! I can understand why he did it, but still . Bet you are glad you only knew about it once it was done, and more so that he managed it successfully!

Hi folks! Re Mr SA going on bus - really it's only what his OT has been doing with him the past few weeks so looks like she did a good job. Another thing she said about him being not ready to go back to work was he isn't mentally stable enough yet. Makes him sound like a right nutter!
Expensive visit to vet - £70.02!!! She had to have her anal glands emptied (yuk yuk yuk). She should be ok now. However price included Advocate flea treatment for three months so maybe not that bad. Dog was so good on the bus bless her.
Have come up with idea to let Mr SA have £100 a month to spend how he wishes. Then if he wants to buy the odd t shirt or whatever he pays in cash. Although when I tried this with him before he got ill he spent most of the money in one go and then continued to put stuff on the card. Whatever I do I can't win! Good idea in theory but.....
He wants to go in town for a coffee tomorrow as we didn't go today. I tell you he is obsessed with coffee! I have told him no other shopping or lunch out. We have about £100 to last until I get paid a week on Monday. This doesn't include food money, that's separate so should be more than ample.
Am proud to say we picked our first crop of mangetout for dinner tonight - lovingly grown by Mr SA. Oh and got a feedback form from Pizza Hut so told them straight - cold and undercooked!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -

It is so difficult to not treat them as children when they have a head injury isn't it?
I would be inclined to give him £100 and take the card off him - what could he possibly need in the day time (except his £100 obviously) that you could not pick up after work?
My DH now has a spends account but this has to cover acupuncture and anything else he needs but when I logged in to his bill account the other day he had been on ebay:eek:
So I logged into his Paypal and changed his card and put his spends card on there instead.
(Also a few months ago you may remember he had a text from his bank to say he had £300+ in the account so he spent £40 on ebay . He didn't think about bills coming out!)
And breathe:rotfl:
What can you do but just get on with it??:rotfl:0
