Thanks ladies and thanks Lucky for reporting Vladlen's post as spam - didn't see it but obviously didn't need to.

Didn't get long to post yesterday as Mr SA lurking wanting to know what I'm doing, I don't get 5 minutes to myself at times. He's still in bed at the moment but I can hear him coughing so he might be up soon. He is full of cold at the moment and feeling sorry for himself. Despite me telling him we need to cut back on unnecessary spending as I would rather use spare cash to save towards a holiday he has re-started his trying to skint us campaign. He knew we were buying for the baby only yesterday but managed to wheedle a pair of canvas shoes from Primark, thankfully only £6. Then he wanted lunch even though we'd just had a coffee. When I protested he said "it doesn't matter what I want I won't be around for much longer". Eventually we ended up in Yates so it only cost £12 for 2 meals and drinks. The thing is that he doesn't do anything so he's bored. He doesn't appreciate I have things to do around the house and don't always want to go out. We're limited to where we can go because of the transport situation and his limited mobility. We can't go for a long walk with the dog and he's too stubborn to take his chair.

He was fine on holiday as the hotel was right on the promenade by the beach and the resort was on the flat. We got the bus when we wanted to go further afield.

Still haven't looked at finances properly but spending card balance is not looking good at just over £1000!!!!! This will have to be cleared at the end of the month, I have got some of the money to pay it off but not all of it. So it looks like the debt busting will be low key yet again this month.

Now I really must catch up with everyone's diaries....

    Back to work tomorrow :(

Sorted out finances today and have cleared spending card. However still a few bits and bobs not appeared on this month's statement so not completely caught up yet.

Had a lovely spur of the moment invite from friend over from Oz to go out last night. Could've done without the expense but I haven't seen her for over 20 years. Had to take Mr SA and I must say he wasn't on his best behaviour at times but all in all had a great night but spent far too much as Mr SA insisted on buying rounds of drinks, bless him. Will be meeting up with said friend on another occasion for lunch minus Mr SA when we can really talk.

Still haven't seen granddaughter. New mum still too sore to drive. Part of me is thinking why hasn't someone else offered to drive them over. Feel so stuck. Mr SA says by the time we see her she will have grown out of clothes we bought her. DD has bought her loads of stuff too.

    Got Ibiza withdrawal symptoms :(

  • You seem quite down SA (understandably so). Big hugs Xx

Do you have any friends who could drive you to see the baby? I know I'd offer if baby snuggles were on offer as a reward!! Xx

  • Well that is a bunch of annoying crap right there.

glad you had a good evening with your friend tho :) that does sound like fun. Was Mr SA just a pest for spending money or was it something else.

I hope you get to see the baby very soon. must be a bit tough.

    BIG hugs hon XXXXXX
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Just catching up...so glad you had such a great holiday. Brilliant. Sorry about the way you can't see your new DGC though..that really sucks. Cant blame the new mum tho..Not sure I drove for a few weeks tho with either of mine. You know you got that extra cash ( was it carers allowance or from a charity, sorry can't quite remember) ...can you 'use' some of that to pay for a cab? Or offer a friend petrol money to take you both?

    Take care x

    Thanks all

Mr SA was just butting in on conversation and buying friend all her drinks, even though she offered to pay for her own and even buy a round but Mr Moneybags said no.

Brizzled - extra money was back pay from Mr SA's PIP. Taxi would be about £30 each way so far too expensive - and we've dropped enough hints about lifts and no one has offered. Hopefully we'll get to see her one day this week. The helium balloon has almost deflated now!

Back at work - ok but very busy. Mr SA has been discharged from physio today as they can't do anything else for him. He's as good as he's going to be. He's pleased about this as he hates it. Tomorrow is meeting with carer funding assessment.

Gave Mr SA £10 this morning for his coffees with carer during the week. So what has he done - gone for coffee with carer then on to pub with him too. This is the struggle I have with him. Unfortunately I had no less than £10 in my purse or I would've given him £5 instead. I've decided against the idea of giving him a set amount a month as he would definitely spend it in the first couple of weeks and then start bunging stuff on the card. He has always been like this by the way so can't blame it on the brain injury. Although he has a lot more time on his hands now which he likes to fill with drinking coffee and/or beer!

Another reason I got cheesed off with him when we went out with my friend is (and I can't be 100% certain on this) I could've sworn he touched her backside when she got up to leave. This is not something the old Mr SA would've done and if I'm right in what I thought I saw then I'm embarrassed as she must think he's a right lech. Don't want to bring up the subject with her as I'm too embarrassed. I challenged him about it and he denied it, but then of course he would. But he certainly won't be invited to any more outings with her! We can chat better without him anyway!

Haven't weighed myself since we got back off holiday (daren't) but will do so this weekend. Am starting back on track today and will re-instate the Top Sante plan as I liked the idea of it. It was a 30 day plan and although I need to consult it to be certain it was: 12 days out of 30 exercise, 10,000 steps a day, 12 alcohol free days out of 30 and 8 fast days (although not sure about the latter one - I get too hungry). I could do with a similar plan for finances! We need to have a low spend next 2 weeks until payday. Trying hard to get Mr SA on board.

Carers should not be going to pub and certainly not drinking. Can you work out a daily allowance?
I am in awe that you cope so well with all that is going on.

I think if the incident did happen its best ignored both on his and your friends behalf just be aware this may happen again and be prepared.
