  • Hi SA, well done for plodding on, your strength is really inspirational!

The walk to work sounds really therapeutic for you, exercise, fresh air and thinking time! I love listening to music when I'm running or on the treadmill too, it's my "me time" and helps to spur me on!

Hope Mr SA's headache turned out to be nothing to worry about and that his MRI scan results will be clear.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

    Good evening all

Managed to get decluttering done in bedroom and dining room cupboard today. Mr SA was very tired today and spent most of the day in bed watching Top Gear. He's feeling quite down at the moment he says. Not surprised after watching all that Top Gear!!

Just got to fill in all those forms tomorrow now.

Weigh in this morning and I've stayed the same. So after 2 weeks I've lost just half a pound!!! Oh well!

Hope everyone is having/has had nice Saturday.

Just checking in, you sound very productive :)

Hope Mr SA continues to make steady improvements, can imagine it must be stressful for him not being able to work, to need a carer etc so am sure the beer is just an understandable crutch. Maybe a holiday in a few months would give you something to save for and focus on..and maybe say to him that the unnecessary spends have to stop and you both have to budget if you are to go?

    Have a great weekend x

    Hi Sun.A, :hello:

What a brilliant idea Brizzled has come up with! :T

Hope you're having an enjoyable weekend, and good luck with the form-filling which hopefully will result in a bit more financial help for you and MrSA. :)

Thanks brizzled and robin - I've already tried telling him we need to budget for a holiday. Last night he said "how are we going to pay for a holiday because if we've got to scrimp and scrape I'd rather go without one and enjoy a beer at night". So no joy there. Back to the drawing board!

Well I filled in all the forms. Surprisingly I found the PIP one the easiest and most straightforward to fill in. The hard ones were the blue badge and bus pass ones because they want doctors certificate and letter from DVLA taking his driving licence off him - which we haven't got. The doctor's certificate can be obtained but unless the doctor reported him to DVLA then it hasn't been done. We just assumed he couldn't drive and that was that. Mr SA hasn't exactly been capable of informing them himself. He should be seeing his consultant either this week or next so we'll ask questions then. Apparently there was an offer of a carers cinema pass but Mr SA decided to turn this offer down, bless him!

He has been very down this weekend, enough to prompt tears and a visit from his concerned sister who he had phoned. She seems to think his dose of anti depressants needs upping, although she is obsessed with anti depressants as she's on them herself and seems to think everyone else should be on them! Something else to mention to the consultant. He says he's worried about his future - or lack of it.

Two slightly worrying things happened - Mr SA fell at the top of the stairs, said he lost his footing, heard a bang. He reckons he just hurt his leg but he kept touching his head. I asked if he'd banged it and he said no. I know for a fact he's worried about going back into hospital and he pretends everything ok when it isn't. The other thing was in the early hours he got up to go to the toilet, stood at the side of the bed and urinated. Don't know whether he was semi-conscious and thought he was in the bathroom or not. You hear these stories of men getting up in the night and urinating in the wardrobe. So there was I at 02.30 with the disinfectant, hot water and a cloth clearing up! Just hope everything's ok.

I was at uni with a guy who got up in the middle of the night, opened his chest of drawers, piddled and went back to bed. Told us his socks were soggy next morning yeugh.

You're a marvel SA. You're doing so well, hopefully things will improve soon.

  • Mr Lucky is the same in terms of saying he is ok when you are sure he isn't . The ambulance man actually picked up on it last week and changed his questioning from "how are you feeling?" (To which the answer was "fine" despite lying on the floor post seizure, having hit his head and being unable to move his whole lefthand side of his body!!), to "tell me where it hurts" etc.

Sorry to hear of the wee incident too. I've never had to deal with that, but as KJ said I have heard of blokes doing it. One guy I knew pee'd in a microwave!! The mind boggles!!

    Take care you Xx

Thanks all and Andrea I'll add that to my long To Do list!

Man from council came yesterday about disabled bus pass and blue badge. Told him to put blue badge on hold as I can't drive and Mr SA not allowed to so only the carer would use it. Didn't have medical certificate for disabled bus pass but the council bloke said he could accept the form as it was as he "had a template". He said bus pass should arrive fairly quickly. This will be a good thing to have as it would mean we could get out and about a bit without having to worry about bus fares.

Mr SA still very down. He says he feels very very stressed. It's not helping waiting for scan results. Consultant said to make appointment to see him one day this week. Every phone number I try results in an out of office message. Have now resorted to e-mailing them. Having my carers assessment this week, not sure what this entails.

And finally got Mr SA to have an alcohol free night last night! Mainly because he'd run out of beer! Maybe this was why he was so stressed! I think the beer helps him relax a bit, I know it's not good for him, but at the moment if it helps then who am I to deny him. If you can remember when he first went into hospital I was using red wine to help me sleep at night and relax me a bit and it worked a treat. However, now things have quietened down I can live without it during the week (not the weekend mind!!).
