  • Thanks dellybelly. No I don't seem to be doing very well. Trying to keep postive and smile about it though. I am like many others on here on medication which gains weight. Iam trying to stick to a 1300 cal diet and walk 10000 steps a day which most days I am doing but the weight doesn't seem to be shifting. All I seem to do is think about food and what I can't eat. Doesn't help that there are lots of other pressures in life at the momment. Keep smiling as long as I am not gaining any more its a step in the right direction. I am realy happy to read that things are working for many others as it gives me hope that one day it will be me!

juststarting have you tried the calorie calculator website that victory and lois recommend?
it's here. If you play about on the website you'll find if you put your current weight and target weight in, it will work out how many calories you should be eating every day (1300 doesn't seem like a lot to me) and when you can expect to reach your target.

If you feel constantly hungry, try filling up on vegetables - their calorie count is so low and they're really filling. Make yourself a low cal veggie soup and eat it with lunch and dinner it'll help fill you up. Try some new types of vegetables, turnip, swede and squash can be really filling and are quite sweet and tasty. And if it's sweet things you crave, try a sugar free jelly with natural yoghurt mixed in before it sets, it makes a lovely jelly mousse kind of thing.

I know it's easier said than done, but try and focus on what you can eat. We all make choices about things, choose to be thin instead of choosing to eat the cake/ sweets/crisps/etc. Try to turn your thinking on it's head and become more positive that you're chosing to eat healthily to lose weight and walking to feel fitter/look better/feel more positive about yourself .Try to catch yourself thinking negative thoughts and challenge yourself. I caught a look at myself in a shop window and was horrified by what I saw... I wobble and walk like a really fat person (because I am). But instead of beating myself up over it, I tried to look on the positive side and said to myself "well, I'm not going to look like this for much longer cos I'm already doing something about it."

Also there was a show done by the bbc called truth about food
which examined easy ways to lose weight. If you check out the above link maybe you'll get some ideas of how to better spend your calorie allowance

Try not to white knuckling along every day using willpower that's slowly getting less. Make your environment at home a no-fail environment, remove anything that might tempt you. Keep posting and let us know how you're getting along. Sometimes you're body is so accustomed to gaining weight that it takes a while to get started. I'm back on the wagon a good 4 weeks now and have only just stopped gaining weight. Patience is a key virtue when you're trying to lose weight. Non of us put our excess weight on overnight, non of us should expect to be able to lose it that way either. I'm on a weighloss wagon, not a weighloss ferarri,... wanna join me?;)

Sorry, just wanted to add in (been watching look good naked tonight) - all of us should be happy we're looking after our bodies.... after all, we're all worth the effort!

    Hope this helps

(finally worked out how to do the sexy here link thing:j:j:j)

Wow Delly your post is brilliant, just one more thing to add to it as it said this evening on how to look good naked......'you have not earnt the luxury to have negative feelings' so true....

I have decided I am going to follow in Paul Potts footsteps, the winner of britain has got talent, I have read a lot about him in the last week, bullied at school, crippled with lack of confidence thanks to other people telling him he was no good and could not sing...his story is truly inspiring and triumphant now, he can stick two fingers up at all those that said he was no good and now he can boost his own self confidence and can now fly....

I, as you know lack self confidence, it holds me back, life is for living and every minute of every day I spend worrying what others think, say about me, I think they are saying about me, every day I hide and bury myself I might as well tell my kids that I am worthless and for them to carry on without me. I cannot give them my all, my H suffers, my life living it to the full suffers and at the end of the day it is just me left alone with negative thoughts, this weight loss has got to be life changing (food wise no more big portions etc) but the mind set has to change also and it is, it will, I can do it, any habit can be broken and it is a habit that will be shattered.....

    Morning

Just a little quicky form me, lost a 1lb this week :)

Dellybelly, great post last night, always helps to take time and read posts like yours, thank you. With regards to your other post, Im guessing Im hitting a natural low, I had a major bout of depression a few years ago, ended up off work for 11 months, taking pills, having psychotherapy/counselling etc. So I not as bad as that, but I guess a low is a low :) I will come out of it soon, I promise

With regards to your friend, I wish I did have some 'before' photos. I did take a photo in just shorts after three months, six months and 10 months, maybe I should another taken and have a look to see if any difference. Thank
