poohbear - studies have shown that people who include small amounts alcohol in their healthy eating plan lose more weight than people who cut it out completely! Go figure:confused: So I would say keep doing as you are.... I think it has more to do with psychological deprivation etc.

good luck with the weightloss sjc and madhouse.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

    Edel.

    Evening all.
Here's a new one for you. There I was tonight contemplating finishing off hubby's kebab hiding in the kitchen where I eat most of my bad food:confused: when he shouts that he had got an e-mail from an old flame. All thoughts of eating bad food were very quickly dismissed out of my head and I have renewed focus. Why is this I wonder?:rotfl:
Has to be the quickest and most reliable cheat banisher I've come across.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
I am currently doing my own thing diet wise but was left tonight feeling hungry (hence the craving for kebab) so I'm thinking I might go back to SW after reading the above posts. I liked SW but found I got bored with pasta and jacket pots so I might be asking for some recipes in a few weeks.
What is the best filler for a meal is it the red day or the green day?
Can you combine SW with a more focussed low fat and low sugar?
I know the muller lights have sugar in but are free on SW, is there a better free option for a yogurt as I found they were a good quick and easy snack when I felt like nibbling?
I would appreciate anyone's advice here.
    Thanks
    BFN
  • Hi, sorry to butt in but could I ask if anyone knows how many syns there are in a schwartz mediterianian(sp) mix? I have just started sw. I have 3st to loose in 2yrs. so hopefully.... :D I have tried getting onto the slimming world website but it wont go on  . Also do all slimming world groups do the same as when we went to the first one the leader had us all sat in a circle and then went through everyones books and read out how much they had put on or off, 'susie has had a blip this week and put on 2 lbs' or 'janice has done really well this week and lost 2lb making her total weight loss 20lb' sort of thing, as at ww where I used to go they used to say the same but not in a circle it used to be at the scales where noone else can hear!!:o ? thanks very much I love the receipes on your pages and the kids are looking forward to lots of different meals!!
I miss my mum every minute of every day  R.I.P xx

Some nice weight losses being reported so :j for all who are doing well

Victory - I've decided you must live in Stepford  All these 'perfect' people you keep seeing :rotfl: When the sun comes out around here you see some hair raising sights :)

Annie021063 - congrats on avoiding the Kebab :T you are much stronger than I am. It's not a case of avoiding the OHs' kebab in my house he shares mine ><

SW is a low fat diet and I'm assuming (seeing as I had to switch sugar to sweetner) that it is also low sugar. As to which day is more filling? Both days seem the same to me although on a green day what I had on my plate looked much bulkier most of the time then anything I had on a red day. Just my way of eating though as I am not a fan of cooked vegetables.

new mum again Swartz dry mix in a silver packet? Gods I hope they are free 'cos i don't count them >< Every week at SW is the same - yes we all sit in a circle and cheer or commiserate with other people who are trying to change their eating habits. I found this more helpful than WW because you can pick up a lot of tips from others.

Hi new mum again - is it the authentic mix for meditteranean stuffed peppers you're after? If so it's 6 syns for a 40g sachet. (On both plans.)

I've attended a few SW classes and they've all followed the same format, as you describe, so I imagine it is the way they all do it. I've noticed that the consultants were discreet if someone had gained, not specifying the actual amount, although the person often revealed what it was anyway. SW consultants are very careful not to reveal details of your actual weight too - the only person who knows that is the person on the scales and the consultant.

Like Erlqueen, I found the format quite helpful, as you could say if you were struggling with something and get helpful advice from the others. In my experience the consultant would never belittle you if you had a gain - they understand that weight loss is a struggle, and now and then it goes in the wrong direction!

Schwartz do so many mixes, which one is it you're having. I've found a Sauce mix for Vegetables: Mediterranean Lasagne which is 4½ syns on either plan, also a Roasted Mediterranean at 4½ syns - obviously you'll be sharing this among the family, so it'll only be a portion of these syns for one person.

You can't access the SW website without the password which changes weekly and is given to members in class.

All groups are run in the same way, which is proven to give the help and support necessary for successful weight loss (that's not to say there aren't other equally successful ways of course). If you're shy or embarrassed about having your weight loss/gain read out you only have to mention it to the weigh-in lady and your record sheet will not be put in the pile to read out. SW is not about humiliation at all, and your actual weight is never revealed to anyone, so don't be worried about that.

Take advantage of the perks to be had in group, by buying the magazine (at a saving of 95p against shop price) and accessing the web-site where you will find literally hundreds of recipes in the archives (all syn counted for you too) as well as being able to look up syns in foods you buy at your local supermarket etc, etc.

You can lose 3 stone in far less than 2 years - in fact, if you stick to plan 100% you could lose it in 4 or 5 months (specially at this time of year when there is such a glut of lovely soft fruits, yum!)
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

SW has very healthy, nutritionally sound eating plans, so if you chose the lowest fat and sugar variety of anything you buy, you would be well within the guidelines.

I have never found a yogurt I prefered to Muller Lights, but there are lots of others around which are free to eat with SW so go with whichever one you like best.

Personally I prefer the Green plan, but then I'm not much of a meat fan, but you have to experiment with them to find which suits you best...........of course you can always do alternate days and get the best of both worlds!!

The only problem with sticking to one plan all the time is as you suggest in your post - boredom! You really have to do a bit of pre-planning so that you're not having the same old thing all the time. I love jacket potatoes, but would get sick of them if I had them more than a couple of times a week. Again, I would recommend the magazine where you will find a 7 day plan which shows how varied (and easy) it can be to eat healthily and enjoyably.

Afternoon all:j gorgeously sunny here again, see the weather is getting me into training for what it will be like over in super hot Spain (40 degrees day, 32 at night!!) been to boot fair and bought a load of clothes which have subsequently gone on ebay, the stall I go to is obviously seconds from the top shops but sizes, I got 14's last week, sold on ebay, 12's this week now on ebay so whatever it says in the label is rubbish and will have to take a tape measure next week as this is just silly now, great stall cheap but what is the point if all the sizes are wrong!!
Off to docs again tomorrow as gout has appeared again:eek: at least the positive is the heat and the pain mixed up makes me want to eat nothing at all:D oh the weight loss this week should be in the stones:rotfl: :rotfl:
H in bed asleep with a head-ache, must be all this heat, it doesn't suit us brits:rotfl: :rotfl:
Crumbs we complain when it rains and moan when the sun comes out!! At least the trampoline is getting it's usage today....

Also got 2 SW mags and 1 WW mag from the £1 man at the boot fair, saves huge amounts as they are normally £2.50 each so will have a read of those later and try some new recipes out as like it has been said the worse thing is the boredom of the same food, I am very much into salmon at the mo and prefer that or cod to meat, I used to love fresh chicken skinless chicken breast and as we eat no red meat would make cottage pie/spag bog with chicken rather than mince but now I much prefer fish...

    Hi all,
just thought I'd pop in. Well done to all the losers and welcome to the fellow newbies. Can I just double check that Wednesday is weigh in day if your doing it on your own. I've had some good days and some naughty days so I'm not holding out much hope for a loss. Gonna have to be extra good for next couple of days.
