Hi all, not been so good, fear am getting a bit cocky. Did loads of walking yesterday and so v.tired today. Have discovered that if I drink certain alcoholic drinks I crave salty fatty crisps but with others I am fine. Now v.aware that I sound like a wino! But am not, honest!
Reading all the threads I noticed someone said they will buy frazzles for their kids (and custard creams) so that they won't be tempted. I do this with... new potatoes. OH loves them, me kinda well I like a few but not a load compared to oh um roast potatoes!
I had a 'fairly-ish' controlled binge. Normally OH bulk buys choc/crisps when I say I fancy a snack. So now ask for specifics, just 1x bag of X, 1xbag of Y. Not great but considering I could woof down a 6 pack of crisps without blinking, this is a vast improvement.
Hope everyone sticks with it. I'm so grateful for all the thanks for meeting the May target. So I really want to meet the June target too. I need to up the exercise again. Even if just in bits and bobs. Today I washed the car, did a bit of housework. Tomorrow, more walking! Best of luck guys.

retiredlady I meant to say this the other day - Glad you had a nice holiday (again!! - jealous! me! No Way!! ) and I hope that you've managed to get back into the swing if things. How's the lovely Charlie?

Thanks Petrichor! I have just about managed to get back into the swing of things - yesterday was my first "perfect" day and I am feeling ok about the weekend too!

Charlie is fine, I think he missed us although he was at home with our 2 grown up daughters, he has now been sneaking onto the foot of our bed at night time. It might be nice in the winter but it felt like a hot water bottle this morning!:rotfl: :rotfl:
Am looking for dog training classes to take him to so he will stay, return etc. He does sit though!:j :j
He is also very good exercise as he does love going for walks!!

    Morning girls
Everyone is doing so well, I am truly inspired everytime I read the thread.
I have managed to keep off the scales so the weigh in will be a nice suprise hopefully!!!
Thanks to everyone for their advice and tips - it really helps.
Yesterday was much easier than Thursday as we had a day at home and I was working in front of the PC most of the day so was not tempted at all.
Today will be much the same as I am at home while the others are out doing sporty bits - I will take the dog for a walk today. Tomorrow we will be at our allotment so some good healthy exercise there.
Hope you all have a good weekend.
    Take care

I have been doing menu planning for about 3 months now for the whole family and I don't want to cook seperate meals for me so I am adapting some of the planned meals slightly, and putting lots of salad out at every meal. I feel I am getting as much food as usual if my plate is full. Psychological, I know, but it seems to be working for me. I usually have a glass of wine each evening. What is the opinion on alchohol and weight loss. Should I give it up? I have started to use a much smaller glass.
mineallmine, I buy biscuits for my hungry lads but now never buy anything I like so I am not tempted. I did really well yesterday until DH was hungry at bed time and got up and made 3 slices of cheese on toast which he brought up to bed. I couldn't control myself and ate half a slice.

Well done ctfg, I haven't dared weigh myself yet, but my waist is 2 inches smaller since I last measured it 2 weeks ago.

I am trying to lose weight by using slimming world books. I have got a couple of the magazines and a directory from ebay. I would find it very difficult to go to the meetings as I am also a full time carer, and on-line is just too expensive. I wonder if someone could help with a few questions:

I am mainly following the green days and there appears to be a lot of things free on these days. But if I want a snack in between, is it better to stick to fruit or can pasta/ravioli be eaten in between meals as well?

How many ryvitas can I have for one healthy eating extra.

How much weight should I expect to lose a week. I would like to lose about a stone and a half in total.

lastly how many syns can I have each day?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi All,
Like most people I want to lose weight tried all sorts over the years, all with the same results. I can lose but put more back on lost 3 Stone on Atkins and put 4 back on.

Now my trouble amongst many is working away staying in hotels a lot and eating late at night plus too many beers. So I am looking for a diet no forget diet a lifestyle change. As with diets they come and go I need to make a positive change to my life.

Now I go on Hols in August and have 10 weeks to lose some weight. What realistically can I look to lose 10%?
    Cheers

Ideally you should eat as much as it takes to fill you at each meal time, thus cutting down the need to eat large snacks between meals. That said, free food is free food and can be eaten as and when you wish. However, for a faster weight loss, I would recommend eating fruit between meals.

Do remember to drink at least 2 litres of water each and every day - it really does help!

You can have between 5 and 15 syns a day, but most people tend to average about 10. If you go over one day, don't panic and don't try to cut back the next day or you will end up feeling miserable and deprived and therefore more likely to pack the whole thing up.

Try to think of this as a healthy eating regime which you can live with for ever - it's not really meant to be a diet (these are things you 'go on' and intend to 'come off' after losing your weight - causing a yo-yo effect).

You can have 7 Ryvita Crackerbreads for your Healthy Extra B choice, or 4 Ryvita Original/Dark/Rye/Sesame or 3 Ryvita Multigrain.

Do remember to weigh and/or measure carefully, all those foods not listed as 'free' foods. Aim to lose between 1 and 2 lbs a week - this is a healthy and sustainable rate.

Good luck - it really is the best plan in the world (IMO) if you have a big appetite.

sjc in 10 weeks you could lose 2 stone fairly easily - especially if you're new to healthy eating and male. Go for it!!
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

thank you so much you have been very helpful. I have tried weightwatchers in the past and have always ended up starving. On this plan I am amazed at how much you can eat so I was really wondering if I had understood correctly.

    Thank you again
