I am fortunate (or is that unfortunate!) enough to work in an office all day so I am restricted in what I have access to but I generally try to push my lunch til as late as possible in the day (I am currently munching on it now). I eat salads most days for lunch and the advantage of a salad is that it takes quite a while to eat it so you feel like you have eaten a fair bit. Iif I have a sandwich for lunch - it's in front of me one second, and gone the next and I wonder where it went and how I didn't even notice eating it.
I guess my advice is to try to eat your lunch slowly (with a bowl of soup beforehand or the like) so that it is not such a long hungry afternoon until dinner.
If I'm hungry I'll try as you suggest and have a cup a soup first.
Has anyone tried Miso soup? I hear it is supposed to be almost no-cal?0 -
You can change a habit, if it is biscuits change them to crackers or salad stuff, snack on fruit, enjoy your food, eat slowly, little spoons for soups, makes it last longer, finely chop, makes it look more, switch the tele off and enjoy what your eating, make a conscious effort to change and your weight will drop off, swap everything high for low calorie, if it has to be biscuits there are light ones, less % fat ones...
Some very good tips there Victory ... I can see now why you have done so well in your loss. If I can be even half as committed and sensible in my diet I'll be very pleased (and hopefully a few pound lighter too)

Have lost 11lbs-slowly-thought i would try slim-fast twice,,but had to stop it after 2 days as it gave me a bad upset stomach etc(trying to be polite here!!)
Anyone else had this problem? THe company claims they have not been told of any similar incidents.
Hi Hollydays - I know exactly what you mean! I've tried it a couple of times, and it had exactly the same effect on me. I believe they add an ingredient that gives you the feeling of being full, so maybe it has a bloating effect on some people but not others.

I know, I know, don't buy 'em.
TBH, I haven't, but we've done baking instead ;_) ~ it is half term after all. No, I was very good and only had a small piece ~ of each!
I've discovered I can't abide frazzles, so the children will be getting those from now on. If I stock up on Custard Creams, I'm guaranteed not to nosh 'em.
Toay I had an apple for breakfast ~ doesn't sound much, but I don't generally eat breakfast, which is why I want biscuits before lunch.
Salad for lunch with ham and a small amount of grated cheese. 2 more apples, and chicken curry for tea.
How does that sound?
Ooh, I forgot the tin of soup, I felt unsatisfied.
Forgot to mention, I am breastfeeding a 3 mth old, and a 2 yr old, so I guess.... no, I'm just using that as an excuse.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

Hi Guys
OK - so I start my regime yesterday and I'm thinking that everyone has decided to try and trip me up from the start (well that's how it feels) You will remember my trip to costco yesterday. Well that was followed today with a trip bowling for us all. Hubby decides we should treat the kids to an indoor Macdonalds - I sit there with 2 of their fruit packs. Then we finally decide to buy a new TV and because we were late getting home and everyone was starving they decided on pizza - I made a salad using up soem Ham and cold new spuds from yesterdays dinner.
I feel good but my power is sapping with three major temptations in just over 24 hours.
Can you all send me some extra willpower please in case they decide on yet another foodie trip tomorrow??
:A this is how I feel.:D0 -

Hi Annie - you're doing amazingly well to avoid the temptations being put in your path so resolutely! It sounds to me like you've got plenty of willpower, but as your resistance is probably being lowered all the time, I'll send some positive willpower vibes in your direction..!

Hi Gravity - it sounds good to me. Apples are actually very good, apparently they help to suppress appetite, and they're low in calories. I discovered that Heinz Scotch Broth is quite low in calories too with 69 per half can - although half a can wouldn't be enough for me!
