Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.
On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.
Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:
Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week
This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Afternoon everyone
I haven't updated everybody's totals as I'm not sure everyone has actually declared on the last thread.
Got to work out my new budget. But have a bit of a concern this week. Hubby has injured himself in an accident with a quad bike in afghan, he's fine but he's torn some tendons, the dope, so is likely to be coming home in the next week, which is obviously good news for me but not for my spends!so I may have to expect a red week this week, but will be claiming petrol spends from him as I will have to collect him.

Please can I join with £500

First post updated to here.
Welcome along the-mango and DieteticsGirl. Good luck with the challenge.
And wow DieteticsGirl you might need more than good luck for that budget.
My budget is £95
Groceries - £30
Petrol - £25
Spends - £40
Am out for lunch tomorrow, was supposed to be out for tea tomorrow too for a colleague's leaving do, but not sure i'll make that. So may use some of my spends money on petrol. Will see how I go. Nothing else planned for the week, other than nursing hubby when he's home.SPC 18 Target £200 /0 -

Hi ETO
I'm really sorry about hubby's accident, I'm pleased he's ok. You'll have to spoil him while he's home
Thanks for starting this thread again. This week I'll be allocating £15.00 as I'm going to Bristol for the day this week and will need some lunch and coffee. I also include Saturdays in my budget for the week otherwise the temptation to go crazy  is to huge! I had a NSD today. Stayed in and caught up on some telly :T :A lol!
Have a good week everyone!
Cheers

Hi there - it's entirely up to you what you include....some do everything as you suggest and some do miscellaneous spending that isn't budgeted anywhere else. I think the key is to know yourself what you've included (and declare on here so the temptation to cheat is removed....) - well that's what works for me
ETO - glad you're getting hubby home...even if it is due to an accident! And thanks again for starting the thread and retaining your :A status!
I've got a few days work travel again this week and a social event on Saturday (and I do need to count Saturdays or like Casper, I would just go spending-mad).
Pledging £65 for this week please
Good luck everyone - here we go again :j:jSPC Member #112 :A Save £2k in 2014 # 160 :money:0 -

Hi Bassibabes
As MissE001 said, it's entirely up to you.
I think the very original thread was just for those pesky extra spends that we all have that we don't need. Such as the extra magazine or choc bar that when you add up, would be an extra £10 here and there.
If you have set budgets for childcare and petrol then I guess there is not much point including them as you cant do anything about them. This challenge is to make us think about what we are spending that we don't really need.
That said I do include petrol, groceries and miscellaneous spends as it keeps me on the straight and narrow and stops me from withdrawing more money for each of these things.
Hope you'll be back to join us.
Thanks everyone for the wishes for hubby, he is a wally, but glad he's coming home. It just means all those household chores, clearing out of cupboards / wardrobes etc that I had another 4 weeks to do, I now don't.and it means bunny gets to spend 4 less weeks in the house with me and will have to go back into the conservatory. Poor bun.
Have a good week everyone.SPC 18 Target £200 /0
