getting fed up with ebay's new star rating

How about some catagories for buyers to be rated in:
Complaining about postage after winning? *****
Asking stupid questions whilst the auctions live. *****
Asking stupid questions when the auctions finished. *****
Waiting 10 days to pay and then asking 'wheres my item' on the 11th day. *****
Marking you down on stars even though the item was posted at cost, you ran to the post office as soon as the instant payment notification flashed up, you described the item especially accurately - even your Granny vouched for it, you emailed them to say 'thanks for bidding on my item', then 'thanks for winning my item' then 'thanks for paying for the item' then 'I'm going to post your item' then 'I have posted your item' then 'Have you received your item?' *****
i am sat here chuckling to myself, you are spot on!!! Thats exactly how I feel :rotfl:0 -

It's only if they were above average (4 Stars) or significantly above average (5 Stars) in a given area that I would feel that more than 3 Stars is justified. Equally I would only give less than 3 Stars where the Seller fell below (2 Stars) or significantly below (1 Star) what I would expect of a "normal" sale.

There are a lot of people selling on eBay these days, and the standard expected by buyers is higher than it used to be. If somebody wants to get 5 Stars (which eBay defines as "Very Accurate", "Very Satisfied", "Very Quickly" and "Very Reasonable") from me, then they will have to do something special in that category.

Otherwise (assuming that there's nothing actually wrong with it), I would give it the eBay baseline for a normal transaction of 4 Stars for "Accurate". If I'm not sure, then I might give it 3 Stars for "Neither Accurate nor Inaccurate". If it's really not as described, then I'll take it up with the Seller in the first instance before I post feedback.
Wow!! How quickly did we convert this buyer!!! :T<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
Someone has only just given me feedback from something I sold just before the Easter Holiday.
Every single star has gone down a tad, including despatch time, even though in my communication with them, I told them that there might be a delay due to the easter holidays!
I still haven't left feedback on them. Shall I now put a neutral due to her marking me down or just leave it?0 -
leave it, it's not worth it.0

Yes, I decided to leave it, I typed that post when I was still fuming, amazing what a night's sleep does for you sometimes.
These things are not worth worrying about - I don't need blood pressure higher than it is already!!

I always post next day or depending on when payment is recieved the same day,all of my recent buyers have left feedback to say that the items are excellent, very fast delivery, excellent packaging, excellent communications, yet a couple of buyers must have left less that 5 stars as the shading on the 5th star is not compleate.
You simpally can't win with the new ratings, please bring back the old system Ebay !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think there should be a criterion on feedback for packing - it's really important and i would pay more for someone who packed better or wait longer... jxAiming to take control of my life:A
£10 per day in JUNE
So far: £18 ebay; £20 cash for clothes; £50 flea market0 -
I give 4 stars usually, if i am satisfied with the trabsaction. I gave 5 stars recently for dispatch, becaus ethe seller posted it out very quickly for me, once id told them it was preferbly needed by the weekend. I save 5 stars for sellers who do that little extra, detailed listings, true reflective P&P, dispatch same day/next day
I find it hard to give 4 stars to sellers who dont send one single email though, at any point during the transaction0 -
I really don't know what everyone's getting so het up about these stars for. They're completely pointless. As soon as you get above a certain amount of star ratings, no one buyer will be able to affect your star rating in any meaningful way whatsoever.
And vice versa, if you have a terrible service from a big seller and give them one star on everything, then it will have absolutely no impact on their star rating.
Personally, I doubt the star ratings system will stay around for long - it doesn't really give buyers much information at all, and it's just one more hassle when leaving feedback. Much effort for practically no benefit. Best thing to do is just act as if they don't exist - ignore the ratings you get, and don't bother leaving any .. that's what I am doing. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0
