getting fed up with ebay's new star rating

Thanks Cornishsaver. I don't do lots of Ebaying so that will be the reason I don't see the more detailed feedback scores.
Much appreciated0 -
Usually I get my feedback in batches so I wouldn't notice one seller making a difference to my stars. However because of this thread I was actually checking my stars when some more feedback was left so I was able to roughly identify how that buyer rated me.
She didn't affect my first three categories, but took me down to 4.7 from 4.8 on postage costs. It's as expected I suppose although I did only charge £2.40 post and packing for something that cost just under £2 to post which I don't think was excessive. However she is a big seller herself and I looked at her stars and she has 4.9 for postage yet charges £3.99 for posting t shirts by standard post. So it doesn't seem to make any difference how much you charge as buyers will mark however they want regardless of how 'fair' it is.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I always look and I think I've only found one so far..but they were charging £1 for a novel so would actually have been making a loss on their postage. I'm buying stuff at the moment, so will report back if I find any more. As for th elowest, so far that's been 3.6 for postage charges.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Well I have 4.7 for postage and it will be staying like that, its as though ebay want to push sellers to include some of the postal costs in their item price. I don't think I overcharge on p&p but do include the packaging cost in the p&p. Buyers can see the p&p price BEFORE they buy - thats the time to query p&p not after winning the item.0

i have to say i always post the next working day of recieving cleared payment and my star is at 4.8 what can you do !!!!!! also i have just put my postage up a bit and the star is at 4.5 so i'm glad i did !!!
sorry if people don't want to pay my postage then they won't buy it's that simple.
I tend to think that folks who only buy and don't sell have no idea how much postage actually costs - certainly since Royal Mail put their fees up recently.0 -
It's just made me be really ott about spelling out my postage policy. Recently I've just been putting at the end of the description that packaging is considered in the p+p costs and if it's over then I will refund, which is exactly what I was doing but maybe this will put a stop to the negs. It's all a bit of a faff really.0

We've just had our star rating drop from all 5's to 4.8's on 2 catagories.
One was on "item description".
The guy bought the item from us said he was having trouble fitting it but didn't really say what the problem was so he was asked to clarify his problem.
He was also told if he wasn't happy to send it back.
After all we can't solve the problem if we don't know what it is.
3 days later he emailed to say he had broken the item so couldn't send it back and he would leave us a negative.
We told him to send it back and we'd refund him - against our better judgment but we do take pride in our customer service.
He sent it back we refunded him the same day.
The annoying thing is it was as described, just this person couldn't follow the simple instructions, wouldn't let us help him, then broke it and we get the blame:rolleyes:
He left us a neutral feedback yesterday and reduced our stars.
The other star he reduced was - go on guess what it was? - Yep P&P.
We charge £5.99 (cost £4.75)on a 300g box going special delivery and sent out the next working day. It is a brand new box, bubble wrap bags, packaging and printed address label.
You just can't please some people!0
