I've worked in supermarkets and they don't have a concrete time that reductions get done. It all depends on many factors. The manager doesn't hand out hand held terminals and printers at certain time to the staff and shout "go go go".

Some do , some dont. You have to go round your local shops and work out who does what and when

depends on what time they close ( which will be different for different sizes of store and different areas of the country ). Most stores will start reductions around 2 hours before closing

I used to leave my Christmas food shopping until last thing Christmas Eve, and will probably do the same thing this year. I have a Tesco, Morrisons, Aldi and Asda within 3 miles each way walk, so it might be a good way of getting some exercise before the eating starts.
A few years ago, I managed to buy a rib of beef knocked down from £15 to £5, and a 2 kilo sea bass for £6.

Between Xmas and NY is the best time for yellow stickers on things like meat (mince, chicken breasts) ready meals etc as most people are doing one of these: eating Christmas food - either at home or with family or friends or eating out.

Is it really worth the scrum?

I'd rather just buy a bit less in advance. (But then I live in an area where everyone seems to have an eye for a YS).

We are going out for xmas Dinner tomorrow but had a big bill come in end of last week so money is very tight. Got all my Xmas prezzies and stuff but looking to buy a cheap turkey if at all possible. Not the end of the world if I can't, but not sure where is best to go to stand a chance of grabbing a bargain, or when.

    Don't need a big bird.

I did do a forum search.., hope I didn't miss a previous thread.
  • My friend was in a small m&s food the other day and they had a turkey crown reduced to £9 after 5pm. They do their reductions after 3pm and 5pm. Also on doubt model and aldi will have cheaper turkeys.
  • No M&S near here, got a Morrisons, two Asda's, a Lidl and an Aldi, can travel to Tesco at Lakeside if necessary but as they are a large store (and there's a shortage of large Tesco's here) I assume there's no point.

I was in our local Aldi at midday today and all xmas food & meat was half price - Turkeys, party food etc, snacks.
