Tesco tonight:
2 x large chickens @ 70p each
Leg of lamb for £1.30
Huge piece of rolled pork for £1.90
2 x packs of four chicken breasts @ 75p each
3x pork fillets @ 45p approx. each
2x packs casserole beef @ 45p approx. each.
4x packs prawns @ 40p each.
10x assorted Healthy Choices ready meals @ 35p each, ideal for OH to take for lunches at work.
2x big tubs double cream 15p each
Two carrier bags of fruit and veg for under £2, it was all 95% off.
There was bread, Danish pastries and doughnuts all for pennies but I didn't need any so left these.
Four bags of cat litter in the Damaged section, split bags but taped up securely. 10p each!
It was a wet night tonight and blowing a hoolie, I don't think many folk were out shopping! I needed to fill up the car for an early start tomorrow though and popped in to get some fruit for the pack-ups. Well worth the visit!

Have to say it's not usually as good as that, the usual night's offerings are more like six packs of half price Fridge Raiders and a leaky pot of yoghurt. On other nights the rude people are out in force, snatching and grabbing. Can't be arsed with that tbh, I like a bargain as much as the next woman but there's no need to turn into a slavering hyena fighting over the scraps. I only go into Tesco twice a week and it happens to be convenient to go in the evening, I don't make a career out of it and 80% of the time I come away empty handed of reductions. The odd brilliant night makes up for it though and fills the freezer. I don't get that sort of haul every week, that's two or three weeks worth of meat for me.
My Lidl puts the yellow 30% stickers onto packs three days before the expiry date, which is excellent imho.Val.0 -
Iceland have started putting 50% off stickers on the fresh meat on it's use by date.0

With Sainsburys, they initially reduce their goods by a third, then reduce them further if they are still in the reductions chiller.
This afternoon - just before 3pm, I nipped into the Tesco as I went to the hairdressers down the next side street.
I went to the reduced section and saw some puddings which I had with a £10 meal deal reduced from £3 to £1.55, almost half price.
Then I saw some lamb meatball dish and that was reduced from £6 down to £5.20, 15.3% reduction. If it was reduced at the same % as the puddings, I would have bought them and would be around £2 less than the reduced price I saw.
Does anyone know why the reduction % varies in Tesco? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I've no idea but it does vary quite a bit. Some items are marked down 70% while others 20-30%. My mate works at my local tesco so I know what times to go to get the best balance between price reduction and there actually being food left...16:450

Often look in my local Tesco reduced section and usually find the prices, which are on the produce off the Deli counter, are usually more than the pre packed prices on the meat aisle.0
