I wouldn't slow cook it, unless you want it to drop to bits. Morrocan lamb casserole is lovely. Google for recipes. If there is a lot freeze some for another day.
One day I might be more organised...........

  • I agree with lil-me; if the lamb is already cooked, simmering for hours in a SC will ruin it (and be a waste of electricity ;) ). I'd make a sauce or gravy and just warm the chopped lamb in it.

As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the exisitng thread to give you more ideas.

my hubby came home from work yesterday with 3 legs of lamb ( don;t ask) which are now residing in my freezer - as i am trying to make the food that i have stretch as far as possible and don't want to save them for 3 very special roast dinners - what can i do with all this lamb ?

I would do exactly what you don't want to: save them for three special roast dinners and then use the left-overs for cold-cuts, sandwiches and a hot-pot/casserole/pie/shepherds pie/yiouvetsi (Greek minced lamb and pasta bake) or even kebabs. At a push you could cook it in a slow-cooker but as it's a lean cut I think it would be wasted cooked like that, really but the Greeks cook Kleftiko with a leg of lamb, I think.

ETA: I was mistaken: Kleftiko is made from boned shoulder of lamb.
  • I would use them as roasts, then use the left over meat to make something like curry, stew or meat and potato pie then freeze what you have made up
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

well my mum just popped in and bought one from me - which means there are now only 2 so i don;t feel so bad saving them for roast dinners.

just have to come up with a plan to make the leftovers stretch :)
