    it might be £50
I just remember it was around the 'old' standard compensation levels
I'm still wondering how they will handle this given the present attitude towards tracking.
They are now selling it as a premium product

Regardless of the politics etc behind this I am interested in how RM are suddenly going to achieve compliance in signed for items. For me it rarely works at all and others have said the same in their areas, but how can that suddenly change overnight?

We will still have the same post delivery staff, if they don't have time to stop for a signature now they are hardly going to have more time in future. Also once sellers realise the need to use signed for for items of quite low value, that will surely increase the items travelling via the service- and more time will be needed etc...

There has been very little discussion about his apart from ebay and here and I think that there may well be issues- although possibly not until Christmas when 'ordinary' people tend to send parcels- and not just us online sellers.

well to my knowledge. At this point the only 'update' has been a text message to the PDAs about RD changing to signed for
there is the odd "work time learning" session on it(the importance of gaining a sig). I know there is at least one company employing staff purely to check their RD sig success and administrating claiming from RM for them.
The simple fact is too many posties believe as long as an item is delivered its all good.

people dont get PIP on letters after 6 years.
this will make folks heads explode

I see there have been a couple of queries re PPI and what is needed. This is a very good guide particularly under the OBA tab for codes.

I had lunch with a friend who happens to be a senior manager at Royal Mail yesterday and asked what they were aiming for - they said that they were trying to position themselves as a parcel carrier. I laughed so hard I nearly fell off my chair. They seemed genuinely surprised when I discussed their prices vs couriers with them, and how people would be running, not walking, away. They didn't see it at all.

They started as a postie though! You'd think they'd have some idea!

Now heres a conversation I have had many times
The mindset of recruiting managers from postal staff
mind the majority are generally $!*$ posties,so perhaps the point is moot ;)

All your 'I told you so' posts really make me think you want some self gratification and thanks for the situation being as it is. I guess the next lot of strikes will be about the impeding redundancies this will bring.

No-one really gives a toss whether you was right or wrong if we are all honest, what people care about is not being able to keep their small business afloat with these costs or by earning that small bit of money by selling on stuff they no longer need and so are here trying to find out how best they can do this - with or without the Royal Mail.

While people are talking and helping each other about how they can cut costs there are your posts right in the middle waving your placard about how you said you was right. Nothing would have changed had we have given that massive pat on the back you clearly wanted for being right each time, you do realise that right? We would still be here talking about this except maybe we would be stroking your ego about how right you were back then.....?

Your threads like this are completely pointless as, whether you was right or wrong, the situation is, as it is now and this is what people are looking for help on.
He's got 18000 thanks from other users. Therefore been considerably more use to this forum than you or I.
He was simply responding to a pointless post about what another member "would have done", if they ran Royal Mail.
    As if.

for those selling items regularly in the £20-50 range post 2 april

it looks to me like it will be cheaper to self insure i.e. take the occasional loss on the chin, rather than pay an extra £1 or so on every package to get the compo increased from £20 to £50

anyone other sellers in the £20-50 range been contemplating this one?

Yep, it is basically what I do now anyway , I am also looking at MyHermes as they have insurance up to £25 as standard. I am also going to stop selling items over £20 overseas for a while and consider how best to deal with those sales later on.

I'll see how it all goes
