Royal Mail new prices released

I warned people many times they wouldn't like whats coming
every time something changes.
folks are up in arms
did you really believe the hype that strikes etc were just about money?
Also to make it clear. If you want to compare prices then compare like for like.
Collect+ is a courier. with none of the legal/contractual ties of RM
Im not saying the price structure is how I would have done it(I would have went with a tiered tracked service personally) but this is what you have
All your 'I told you so' posts really make me think you want some self gratification and thanks for the situation being as it is. I guess the next lot of strikes will be about the impeding redundancies this will bring.
No-one really gives a toss whether you was right or wrong if we are all honest, what people care about is not being able to keep their small business afloat with these costs or by earning that small bit of money by selling on stuff they no longer need and so are here trying to find out how best they can do this - with or without the Royal Mail.
While people are talking and helping each other about how they can cut costs there are your posts right in the middle waving your placard about how you said you was right. Nothing would have changed had we have given that massive pat on the back you clearly wanted for being right each time, you do realise that right? We would still be here talking about this except maybe we would be stroking your ego about how right you were back then.....?
Your threads like this are completely pointless as, whether you was right or wrong, the situation is, as it is now and this is what people are looking for help on.0 -

Exactly my point.
nobody cares/cared until it actually affects them
then its suddenly the end of the world
whether its a change in price, time mail is delivered or whatever
this pattern shall continue verbatim
you seem to miss the point. you find my posts boring it seems(feel free to use the ignore feature)
yet it goes over your head that the same ineffectual whining is just as much for me.
As for strikes. I would take a massive shift for staff(in deliveries at least) to vote for a strike after all the wasted effort/lost wages previously
previously I have posted about impending changes with little interest. hence why I dont bother now.We would still be here talking about this
and theres a big clump of irony on the effect of doing nothing0 -
Custardy...RM/government have been VERY crafty on this, all the changes and RM staff voicing their concerns/opinions were a while back, whch had quite a bit if media attention etc, and then it went quiet, and its like the price increase and changes are now being done 'quietly'.
Soolin had a bit of a backlash on another forum/facebook?? when she tried to warn/explain to people the implications it will have on ebayers etc... and she was basically called a scaremongerer..
There is no media coverage of the change, and the price hike, like there was with the stamps... why???
I personally think there is going to be utter chaos in the post offices once this comes in...
We are the lucky ones, as we have this forum, and like minded people to help us find the best alternative for our needs, and also work out if certains lines are still worth selling..
I think the prices increases will have a knock on effect on ebay listings from the middle of April.. sooo this is where the sellers that have done their homework on couriers etc will take effect, and hopfully will have a good impact on improving salesWork to live= not live to work0 -

it wont be 'news' until people are getting hit by RIP OFF underpaid item charges etc
then its news
As I have said. It would have made more sense(although would have required investment) to create a retail tracked service with tiered weights/sizes
offering add on insurance levels whilst retaining a basic 24/48 hour(or whatever) product0 -
I find it interesting that the huge increases which occurred last year 2012 happened just after the government agreed to pay the pension fund (billions) of Royal Mail. And now this second set of huge increases combined. OK I expect custardy will say it is due to deregulation etc, but look at this way. Government takes OUR money to back Royal Mail pension funds because Royal Mail must have some special status worth saving, then Royal Mail puts prices sky high and says it needs to compete like any other business. So why did we bail it out in that case?Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. So if I got this right, the only way to get any sort of insurance on packets/parcels is to send it specal delivery? ( if using RM)
do you think dodgy ebay buyers have brought this on, by saying that they haven't received an item, when they have?Work to live= not live to work0 -

They didnt pay anything
they took the money out of the pension!
£28 billion
thats a timebomb that will be dealt with by later governments
it actually allowed the government to cook the books a little
why did they do that?
simply because nobody would take RM off them with the pension deficit
remember that deficit was aided/created by the government at the time taking a 13 year break from paying into the RM pension pot.0 -

basic cover is now £20
RD(or now signed for but it is just RD in all but name) retians the existing £40 odd quid cover
be interesting to see if RM buck up on tracking quality
SD is as before
thats for retail of course0 -

it might be £50
I just remember it was around the 'old' standard compensation levels
I'm still wondering how they will handle this given the present attitude towards tracking.
They are now selling it as a premium product0
