Sky buyout of O2 Broadband

Just waited on the phone for 25 minutes to get through to contract terminations. I gather they're seriously busy, as the person told me. It does seem a large number of people are asking for MAC codes.
I can cancel my contract (which I took out in December, not a few weeks ago as I said earlier) and it'll cost me £56.
They spent around 10 minutes trying to convince me to stay, even after I pointed out it was purely ethical reasons for me wanting to leave. They're also saying that the complete transfer to Sky will take about 18 months (as if) so in the meantime the service will still be run by O2 bods.
Having been through this type of situation in a workplace before, I'm not convinced by that.0 -
OK, there's a 14 day cooling off period for the free broadband.
Very concerned that Sky won't honor these deals tbh. Tried Sky's on-line chat who were useless. Have emailed them so will let you know if I hear anything.0 -
Well i am not staying, got my mac code, and if you look on the o2 website you will see they are already offering sky broadband prices at 50% off for 12 months, starting at £5
Also the £50 retentions are offering you is the standard £50 m&s voucher that sky offer all its customers.
Thankfully i don't have a price and unlike the murdocks i have morals, i can't be bought like the police, or hack dead girls phones.0 -
sky are also pushing this takeover through quickly with the regulators, they want all the customer base transferred over before the end of April0

They offered me £100 on my mobile account and as we are a low income family that's a huge help to us.
I don't want to line Murdoch's pockets but assuming the deal can be honored I give him nothing;)
BUT it all depends on whether it will be honored??
Spoke to o2 again and they said that o2 will still trade so it will do them no favours to mis-sell.0 -

Well I have to choose
1.To leave now and pay a large fee (the £26 quoted was wrong)
2.Take 12 months free and £100 credit to phone (no money to Sky)
3.To stay until my contract expires and then leave. (Nov '13) Paying Sky April-November.0 -

Not sure what you're saying here. Are you saying that you are still in contract with O2 but they have offered you free BB and £100 credit to phone if you agree to stay another year?0 -
yes jem16, that's correct0

A large fee to leave?
someone else here has quoted £56 and that's for a longer contract than yours. What figure have you been quoted?0
