That's with the 02 home phone as well!
    Broadband and Home Phone package!

Broadband only "basics" is from £4.25 a month
unlimited "All Rounder" is from £6.25 month

    so still cheaper than titan

O2 have managed to go out with a bang and prove what a bunch of incompetent jokers they are.
We initially accepted 12 months with O2, then they announced the Sky buyout. We called them and cancelled on day 10 I think of the 14 day cooling off period in O2's T&C's. (I have everything noted down, dates, name of the person spoken to etc).

This morning O2 try and bill me for £92 for early cancellation.
I cancelled within cooling off period, I am not liable for an 'early cancellation fee'

We'll see how this pans out. They wont be taking it either way as the BB DD is cancelled. Play awkward and the rolling phone contracts are being cancelled as well.

This has happened to me, I accepted their offer of 12 months free on the friday but changed my mind and got my MAC on the Monday, used it within 5 days and received an email straight away saying sorry youre leaving. I called them again a couple of days later to advise them i would be switching on the 25th and did i need to cancel the new contract in writing or do anything else, I was told no.
I used my MAC within the 14 day cooling off period. I paid them my last DD on the 22nd and cancelled it on the 25th, I then got an email asking why id cancelled my DD, so called them on the 29th, told the CS the payment had been taken for the next month and did I owe them any money? The answer was a catargorical No.
Today I open a letter telling me I owe them £110! because I didnt cancel!

I called them and the guy was telling me that using the MAC is not the same as cancelling, well it is to any other company! Especially when they email you saying goodbye. No-one at any point from O2 told me I had to phone them and cancel.
They have removed the £110 and are saying the owe me a fiver now, they can keep it!

Looks like O2 are now going to upgrade a few more on the converged core and the rest will remain the same.

Also April 4th was the deadline for people to comment on the takeover by Sky. Maybe it will all be finally done and dusted by May at the latest?

I can't find the link, but I've heard OFCOM will be ruling on the takeover in May. Only after the ruling (assuming it says Yes) can any real work begin by Sky and BE/O2 ... it's unlikely that anything will happen to any current BE/O2 customers this year.

Pretty much the same outcome, though we had phoned them and got names to fall back on originally but the charges have now been dropped.

We have found a noticeable difference with BT I have to say. The line doesn't drop like o2 did and it's much quicker.
Personally I'd rather pay for a good reliable service than have a poor unreliable one for free but I guess it depends on how you use the Internet.

I've just been offered (and accepted) 12 months free broadband and £100 M&S vouchers.

Just wondering whether this is too goo to be true and whether there's some hidden catch. Does anyone know whether this seems ok?

The lady I spoke to said that Sky would just negotiate a new contract with me when this one is about to end, but that I don't have to accept it. Feel a bit nervous for some reason. Have no idea what Sky are like but have found O2 customer services to be friendly, helpful and polite. TIA
  • Who knows. They are no o2 that's for sure.

I was going to jump ship, had my Mac code ready - then thought may as well wait and see. Why jump before seeing what/if anything happens.

You've agreed a further 12m minimum term, so if Sky take over in the Autumn then that contract will continue-they have simply bought your existing contract. You can continue as you are, leave, or renegotiate with Sky at the end of your minimum term, just as before. There is no catch.
