Surly under contract law the contract was agreed with O2 and not Sky. Can we not as customers object to being "transferred" to sky?
Surly they can't make you have sky line rental if you don't have it now? That would be a whole different contract and terms and conditions.0 -
A few Q and A's here http://www.o2.co.uk/broadband/broadbandchanges
I guess if you don't want to move over to Sky's network you will be able to leave. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
But it doesn't mention if customers will have the option to leave or not?
I'm guessing this must be covered in contract law somewhere?0 -

My objection to being with Sky is on ethical grounds, because of the Murdochs etc. I probably don't have any grounds to cancel my contract unless there is some technicality in there which others appear to think there isn't, so I'm stuck with them.
I'm not so sure. It tends to be who the contract is between. The current deal is between you and a company called O2 (Telefonica) where as it will now be with a company called Sky.
You haven't agreed to this in a contract.0 -

No need to worry mate, you CAN still be on O2 via a different ISP:We have received this from our suppliers regarding how the 'wholesale' arm of O2/Be is affected:
Telefonica have today announced the sale of the O2 Home Broadband and BE customer bases to Sky.
http://news.o2.co.uk/?press-release=sky-to-acquire-telefonica-uks-broadband-and-fixed-line-telephony-business
We would like to confirm that only the O2 Home Broadband and BE Consumer customers have been sold to Sky.
O2 Wholesale is being retained by Telefonica and will maintain its access to the network. We have been given clarification on the following from O2 Wholesale:
The deal is subject to regulatory approval
Sky will be taking over ownership and day to day operation of the LLU network
Sky will integrate the current ISAMs into their network
O2 Wholesale will become a customer of SKY with a wholesale agreement in place so that they can continue to provide wholesale services to partners as normal

From the top of my head, AAISP and Goscomb (both niche isp's) are some of the ISPs running on BE/O2 wholesale network so you will pretty much get the same service incl static ip address, Annex M, fastpath etc along with superb support. No need to line Rupert Murdoch's pockets :T0 -
I thinn what seems clear from reading on the Internet. Sky can't force you to take up their line rental as this would be a whole different contract.
2/3rd of the current customers don't have O2 line rental so they could lose a massive chunk of these newly purchased customers if they say they need a new contract or will have to leave.0 -
I wonder how many folks objecting to the Murdochs, own a German or Japanese car. Footy fans would not have a premiership if it was not for Sky TV,That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Who says you need Sky TV to watch live premiership footy? Its far cheaper (and perfectly legal) to watch it here using a VPN:

There you go:0 -
Well I object to Sky on ethical grounds. As for footy I can't stand it personally but if Sky didn't exist it could still be shown on the channels we already have. Televised footy was around long before Sky!!0
