Does anyone have experience of how long it should take for the account to show in online banking ...

According to Nationwide it can take up to 5 working days.

Login to main "accounts" page, select "report missing accounts" (bottom LHS of screen) and you will get a list of FAQ one of which is:

Is this account new? New accounts can take up to 5 working days to appear online.

I applied last Friday and it showed up on my online banking on Tuesday evening. I am an existing customer.

I opened four accounts within a space of around 15 minutes.
The first, third and fourth accounts I opened appeared on on-line banking the next day.
The second account I opened appeared a couple of days later.
    I am an existing customer.

Not sure why you've opened up 4 accounts.

CS are saying you can have 4 earning 5%. I know it's not yet known if this is true (CS are saying it is, but that doesn't guarantee it).

It is 12 months free overdraft, for however much overdraft they will give you.

Seems generous, so I might as well put any extra into regular savings for the weekend

Not sure I am with you. Where do keep your overdraft during the week? What do you consider 'regular savings'? If it's a Regular Saver, you usually can't withdraw for 12 months. If it's just any savings account, you get terrible interest

Assuming you actually get enough of an overdraft to make anything worth your while. Shifting e.g. £250 around to earn 99p extra over a year doesn't strike me as an enjoyable task.

Yes you are correct during the week works too. Its a new account so no direct debits, no reason not to.

Nationwide have a nifty regular saver, no limit on withdrawals just got to keep increasing the balance at month end I think is how it works
