Teenage son question....

My little boy is 8 and a half and always has his hands down his pants, my other boy is 10 but does'nt seem too bothered by his willy, can i ask at what age other mums stop helping their sons in the bath or shower? My 10 year old still asks but i've told him he's old enough to shower himself!
I stopped helping my boys ds 12 and ds 9 wash (their hair mainly) from the age of about 6. They just hop in the shower themselves each morning. The youngest one wants me to go in and chat sometimes and does not cover up. I think my eldest got shy around the age of 9 and started locking the door!Wendy0 -
I tried talking to him and with me being so embarrased by the whole thing and him being a teenager we had a very 'Kevin' conversation and it was floor open me up and swallow me squirmingly awful:eek:
I left it as soon as I tried to start it by saying if he wanted to know anything I would get the books or he could ask that nothing is taboo and my door is always open kind of cheerful chat but oh my God, please never again:eek:0 -

Dad: Heard your mum saw you with a stiffie this morning, son.
Son: gnar wrmmmm eeesh bumble
Dad: Yeah, it's the price we pay for being blokes. Better than having all that girly monthly stuff. Not to worry, I've hypnotised her and she can't remember seeing anything......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

My sons are 16 and 13, so they must get stiffies, and possibly "deal" with them: how and when I really don't wannna know! They tend to walk around with towels draped across them in the mornings on the way in and out of the shower. I don't go in their rooms without calling out first...even when waking them, they have a few seconds of me talking to them before I go in. I haven't bought any books on the matter, but going by their sniggers at certain words, the subject had been debated at length at school, scout camp, mates sleepovers...you name it!
Sheet/underwear washing is simple....Kit goes in the wash basket, but before the washer goes on I'll ask "anyone got any more lights/darks?" so they can put any crackly grunties straight in the machine themselves! They help me strip their beds, so I'll busy myself with the pillowcases and whilst they remove the sheets themselves.
If they want my advice about ANYTHING I know they'll ask, but heck I'm their mum - they don't want to share everything with me!
Phew! I was starting to feel such a failure, not having bought son (aged 15) any books on what to do with his willy and not having provided boxes of tissues on the bedside table (would he ever find them underneath all that mess anyway?). No cushions to hide the problem under either, but he does have a dressing gown. And until a few weeks ago he had a bolt on his door but we removed that after he and gf (also 15) took to spending HOURS locked in the room :eek:Ellie

he was not impressed:D asked me to stop talking:D and yes left the house to go out with his mates as soon as I tried to start talking to him:eek:
I made the point though that if he has any questions to feel free to come and ask, I have also discreetly put the tissues in his room in a small box and re-arranged his room while also encouraging to keep the door closed if he wants privacy so all in all we all know what is happening and so some good came of it:D0 -
He'll know by that that you care and you're trying to do your best
Think that should be the end of it.... until your on his bride-to-be's hen night and it all comes out after a few shandies with the girls!!!:A 17/10/07-Started Rosemary Conley :ATotal loss so far= 4 stone 7lbs!In the magazine Sept 08:T0 -

Boys are lovely, son just gone to bed and he stood up, went to leave the room, turned round and said I love you mum, you know that don't you? Ahhhhhhh!! I love him too loads so at least now I know no damage has been made by our little chat!!
That is what I was trying to avoid, son feeling alone because when I was 12 , came on, mum told me nothing so thought I was actually dying!!:eek:0
