   Couldn't get an appointment - god my local doctors surgery is soooooo C**P!! You have to phone up at dead on half past 8 on the day you want your appointment. Then they ask you if its an ongoing problem or a new problem. If its new, then you have to wait at least an hour for someone to phone you back, talk to you about what's wrong and decide if you need an appointment. If they give you one, then you have to take it regardless of what time it is cos if you don't you have to go through the whole process again the next day and the next and so on. I finally managed to get through at 8.35 and all appointments today had gone  I asked if they could contact me if he had any cancellations and they said no, I would have to phone them - which effectively means I would have to phone every few minutes until I got one. ARRGGHH!

    Morning everyone!

Racy hope you're feeling better. I'm sure it was worth it.
<<scuzz>> How awful for you. I hope you get to the bottom of this soon. Are you sure the person who gave you the message didn;t just get it all mixed up? There may be a very simple explanation, don't go on the attack when you see your BF in case it was all just a misunderstanding... just ask him casually about it.
Catowen am intriged by the psychic reading, let us know how you get on.
<<Hugs>> to those who couldn't sleep.
OopsaDaisy Blimey, giving up smoking at the same time as being made redundant? Nothing like a challenge, eh? When you get a craving, go off and DO something else to take your mind off it. (I haven't given up smoking, but I did diet and lose 3 stone. And that's how I dealt with the cravings).
Pink it's so wonderful having lots of different fruits in the garden. When we moved here (10 years ago) we inherited a wide range, and I'm so glad we did. I just love jamming, preserving all that stuff. I have to say though that our dying pear tree gave us a bumper harvest last year, and I spent a whole WEEK trying different ways of preserving pears. I was sick of the whole business by the end, but am ready for it this year. If the tree survives.
<<samsam>>Let us know what the doctor says.
Cazziebo Was your insomnia being unable to get to sleep, or was it being unable to stay asleep? Reason I ask is that my brother has had sleep problems for 20 years. He can get to sleep OK but he wakes up through the night. I've told him to go to the Doctor to ask to be referred to a counsellor, but maybe a hypnotherapist would work.
Crazychik Good luck with the letter. It's going to be a stressful few days while you wait to see if you get a response. Fingers crossed.

Well, was up early today as the man is coming to service the solid fuel stove. Last time (2 years ago) he arrived at 8am. He's not here yet, but in the meantime I've done a load of washing, unloaded DW, and have completely emptied upstairs bathroom, cleaned it all, washed floor, descaled shower and have put stuff back. Am just having a coffee while reading the thread, then will start on downstairs cloakroom.

Have a load of errands and small tasks to do this week, nearly all of which I should have done last week. Or the week before. And none of which are urgent yet. So, I've written them down and will stick the list on the fridge, and I will do them before the end of the week.

Lunch will be hm mushroom soup.

Dinner tonight will be Beef Fajitas, using piadines for the wrap. I sincerely thank the original poster of the Piadine recipe, as we LOVE it.

Waiting for a few deliveries today as well, including yet another attempt at getting some joggers from Next. Their sizing is all over the place, and I've decided that from now on I'll just order 4 different sizes (12 Regular, 12 Long, 14 Regular, 14 long) and take back the three that don't fit.

Oh, our next-but-one neighbour came round yesterday to say they'd had enough of our problem neighbour (PN) and have now made an official complaint. They are actually joined on to PN, and have had even more probs than we have. Poor chap said he's started to dread coming home from work, and he's sick of going round and asking them to turn down the music etc. This guy is normally so laid back, it was a shock to see him so wound up.

    Well, better get on.

I'll pop back later to catch up some more.

    Morning folks :hello:

Hope you get to the bottom of things scuzz

I managed to get loads done yesterday after a lazy start and our bedroom and the office have been gutted and all the lurking dust bunnies eradicated. :D
I did a massive batch cook for the freezer including ham and leek pie mix, bolognese, shepherd's pie, macaroni cheese, vegetable soup and salmon mornay, so I have used up all the reduced fod in the freezer. :j
Also peeled and chopped 2 dozen onions while watching corrie so have frozen these too and they should be handy to have.

Unfortunately the fluey thing that OH and the girls have had has hit me this morning so I doubt I'll be doing much today. OH wouldn't let me go into the office so I should really put my feet up. If I can summon the energy I may tackle the girl's room as that would be the upstairs thoroughly done but I need to wait for this headache to subside a bit.

I also need to make a card for my nephew's first birthday and post it to Tasmania.
And I should manage to get a bit of paperwork done for OH too.

That's all folks. Have a great day.

    Haribo x

Dannahaz - I would fall asleep right away but wake up within the hour. The doctor said that's a common pattern - mind and body so exhausted with lack of sleep but anxiety/depression/stress whatever wakes you back up again.

Certainly worked for me, and I use the techniques in other situations now eg difficult meetings at work, public speaking, etc. Hope your brother finds something that works

    Morning everybody :hello:

((((scuzz)))) - hope you get it sorted and it's all a misunderstanding.
RacyRed - I'm achy too this morning - probably something to do with spending most of the night on the sofa, having nodded off in front of the snooker :o

Well the bad news is that I am back at work today and I have an ENORMOUS amount to do today
But the good news is that I am only working 2 days this week :j :j

On Thursday I'm off for an overnight trip to Paris with some friends :j :j :j I have never been to Paris, and I've never been on the Eurostar either - I'm a bit ashamed to admit that, as my previous office was a 2 minute walk from the Eurostar terminal and I always used to think how nice it would be just to nip over to Paris for the weekend. I haven't been abroad at all for 2 years, and haven't been to France other than "passing through" since I was 15! I hope I like travelling by Eurostar, as I don't drive which makes going by ferry/hovercraft awkward, and I don't much like flying (psychological barrier thanks to a childhood riddled with inner-ear problems!) and if I get on with it, I might decide to go to Europe more often...

I feel horribly disorganised :o Barely did any housework over the BH weekend, and I didn't do any shopping either. I need to do a major grocery shop, but am putting it off until Bosch send me a fully functioning fridge-freezer. I did made a batch of tomato soup to use up some tomatoes which were on the turn. And I went on a magical mystery tour yesterday (in the pouring rain!) to discover my nearest Waitrose - it's MILES away, why aren't there any nearer? I know most of SE London isn't posh enough but I'm sure somewhere like Dulwich (not far from me) could sustain one... Oh yes, and I did a small amount of mending, trying to prevent one of the underwires escaping from the top I am currently wearing.

SO IT'S GET MY @RSE IN GEAR TIME. I'm going to post my to do list here to shame me into doing it. This covers the next 2 days:

    - Work (today) - [strike]finish internal monthly report[/strike]Done, [strike]finish client letter[/strike]Done, [strike]complete last week's timesheet[/strike]Done, [strike]send set of documents to client as requested[/strike]Done. [strike]Submit a booking for annual leave[/strike]Done.
    - [strike]Buy some Euros from the post office[/strike] Done
    - [strike]Cancel or reschedule mystery shopping job (just haven't got time... hope I can reschedule as it's potentially a lucrative one)[/strike] Done
    - [strike]Do weekly clicks on Pigsback[/strike] Done - 4 CTs + quiz = 50 points
    - Go to concert (tonight)
    - Book for a show next month (can be done on way to tonight's concert)
    - Get some passport pics done so I can apply for my Proms season ticket (N.B. check that I don't already have some old ones)
    - Fill in application form for Proms tickets
    - Type up report for the community project
    - Work (tomorrow) - all the things I don't have time to do today
    - Go shopping for a small-medium size wheelie suitcase
    - Receive Tesco wine delivery (Wednesday evening 20:00-22:00)
    - Plan, and shop for, my contribution to the picnic for the outward trip to Paris on Thursday
    - Pack for Paris
    - Do at least 2 loads of washing

Right, I will be back to report on progress!!!! On pain of death!!!!

See you later - ((((hugs)))) if you need them

    Rzl xx

    Good morning everyone

It's cold, wet and very windy here today so the perfect day to get lots of housework done.

scuzz (((hugs))) As others have said, you really need to sort this out with bf. Something just doesn't sound right. Please try and sort things out with him before you go to Belfast. It was great seeing how happy you were. I hope it is just a misunderstanding.

Jet77 Good luck with the date! Don't forget to give us all the details.

Lynz noticed your sig - Lilongwe? I hope I'm not mixing you up with someone else but is that where the music festival is taking place in Africa?

Queenie my DS starts his Yr9 SATs today and DD does her Yr6 SATs next week. I'm also keeping an eye on stress levels - DS looked particularly pale today as he was heading out to school. Its his science SAT today and he is worked up about it. Bless. Some pampering after school will be the order of the day - along with some revision for the other tests of course. ;)

I've sold my third book on Green Metropolis. :j It's my second in one week so my account balance is climbing nicely. Just need to post it today.

(((hugs))) to all who need or want one. I'm off to get started.

    Have a tremendous Tuesday. xx

BRzl My sister and I went to Lille on the Eurostar. We found it quite enjoyable. Paris is fantastic - I'm sure you will have a ball. If you are going to the museums, make sure you give yourself enough time to see everything you want to - the Louvre is HUGE. Seeing the Mona Lisa can be tricky as it tends to be surrounded by crowds almost non-stop. TBH I much preferred the Raphaels that surrounded it and thought it was quite dingy-looking. Of course they may have moved it to a more prominent place since I was there many years ago. Hope you have a lovely time.

    Morning all

Catowen - I have dreams like that - not nice are they. I have a real issue with dreams, if I wake up in the middle of a dream it can really throw me out for days, the really can disturb me quite a bit....I remember being even worse when I was pregnant - used to wake nearly every night in a cold sweat, sobbing.

Chilly and grey here this morning - was hoping to get out in the garden and do some digging but I think I'll give it a miss. Kitchen, bathroom and living room all clean tidy and hoovered, just giving the cats another half hours snooze on my bed before I go wake them and get on in there (any excuse for a coffee eh!!)

Had a real down week last week so gave myself a good talking to over the weekend and made myself a few promises....1. Get a haircut sorted (free one via shampoo offer), 2. Get out of the house everyday for at least a 20 min walk, 3. Make the effort to do something about my weight. DH bought me the Paul Mckenna book and CD yesterday, I'm not a fan of diets and know that it's my eating habits I need to change, not the food I actually eat....I read half the book last night and am feeling very inspired...will have a listen to the CD later....Has anyone else tried it?

Tea tonight will be chicken stir fry, must get the BM going for dough for rolls.

Hope you've all had a great weekend.

  • Morning all, just decided not to do a heap of washing today as the nice bright weather outside has just turned grey and cloudy and threatening

Hugs to Scuzz, hope you work it out.

I hate those dreams too, they stick in your mind forever :(, for me they always involve my children being in danger.
Racy hope you get your new housework initiative working! Sounds good to me, but then I'm always looking for an excuse not to do housework...:rotfl:
Queenie hope DS gets on OK in his SATS. I have two uni students about to start end of year exams so I shall be on tenterhooks too.
Haribo - hope it's not the flu and that you feel better soon
Samsam - that's awful! I hope you get an appointment soon
Hugs to everyone else, I've run out of brain!

Well I must get on with the cleaning I suppose - I finally worked my way through the pile of ironing yesterday - yay! but it won't be long until there's more awaiting me

Little kitty cat woke me up at 6.30 wanting food :j so she's definitely feeling better.

Discovered a new arrival in the garden, Mr Squirrel - very cute but he has dug up my new lettuce seedlings  and eaten all the birds' food.

Have just taken another loaf out of the BM, going to take pity on my 'starving':rotfl: OH and bake him a fruit cake later on, along with some tea loaves I think to use up the dried fruit in my cupboards (all a bit elderly methinks :o )

    Breakfast: poached eggs on toast
    Lunch: chicken and salad wrap
Dinner: some kind of turkey dish with spaghetti

    Enjoy your day everyone!
    Mrs F xx
