Dunno about the OP, but by now I'd be on the phone to the Card Fraud and Card Block teams, the bank head office, and anyone else that came to mind, and also talking to a solicitor.
Not to mention opening a bank account elsewhere and switching as much as possible to use it instead.0 -

Suggested that in #6
Think OP has alrady done that.....Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
Crazy that this has gone on so long. Either the bank has reached new levels in customer abuse or the OP is the dumbest fraudster known to humanity. From what they've posted the latter doesn't seem likely so it seems the bank has got some serious questions to answer.0

I have just spoken to the manager of NatWest. He did tell me earlier that he would have an update for me later today but has just called to say he has no further information to I've me other than if I would like to make a complaint to why I have no access to my account.
I have tried to open an account with Barclays today but they won't let me have a current account but will let me have a savings account which allows money paid in & out. I do have some credit problems from a few years back so this may be the problem.0 -
If it is a money laundering freeze, and the bank is in communication with the HMRC, both organisations are probably lost in a maze of each other's phone systems and lack of personnel to action anything. No debts. No credit cards. No store cards. No mortgage. No CCJs. High credit rating intact. Living frugally. Want to start business soon. Trying to keep head above water; while standing on own feet; staying within the law; and not falling into debt. Looking to raise income, who isn't?0

What would you suggest that I do?
The manager obviously knows something as he said to me that he should be able to tell me more by close of play today and then called to say that he can't. I really don't know what to do.0 -

There's nothing you can do. They aren't allowed to tell you anything if it's AML.
We've been through this already.0 -

I understand that but it doesn't stop me worrying about it. I've done nothing wrong or untoward yet I feel like a criminal and can't stop worrying.
They won't even tell me how long things are going to take and I've tried opening a new account with Barclays but can't for whatever reason.
Seems to be dragging on & on.0 -
This is starting to sound more like there is something on your file. Why couldn't you open an account with Barclays?
I said I wanted a cash card account but the lady said to apply for a normal current account first and if not to get a cash card. I said ok before realising this would include a credit search which I know I'll never pass due to some past credit issues. Anyway, it said no and gave her 2 codes which she went to check and came back and said no its because of some things against my nameand she said it also said no to cash card account but that I could have an Everyday Saver Account. I've checked my credit file and there's nothing in the CIFAS part.
Would they let me open a Saver account if there was something next to my name other than bad credit history?
I have to admit I'm pulling my hair out now not knowing what's going on. It's making me feel sick with worry because of the not knowing and I don't know what to do.0
