If there is suspicions of any of the above you will not be allowed to withdraw anything until the investigations are complete - this will include discussions with outside agencies such as SOCA and HMRC.
Any idea how long these checks take? It's very inconvenient not having a bank account!!0 -

Only the incomings & outgoings from eBay/Paypal. I suppose as its a current account they may have been alerted by lots of transactions. This is all though, I haven't done anything that is money-laundering or fraudulent so will just have to wait for them to do their checks.0

I sold quite a lot of things as a private person using my ebay and amazon accounts and payments were through paypal and never had any issues with my bank.
Also £57,000 was paid into my bank account by some fraudster and the bank did not freeze my bank account only suspended the online facility as this was how the fraudster gained access to the account.
However after 2 days online access was given again.0 -

Have you rung either of the numbers I quoted in #25 ????
A branch may not have a clue what is going on. But going to the source may get you some answers to the blocks. As well as getting them lifted.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

Not yet, I just thought being as the bank didn't tell me anything there wasn't much point. You think he'll be able to tell me any different then?0 -

Well branch staff are nothing but sales people these days.
So going to the teams that deal with these issues seems to be the logical way forward. Rather than wasting time pontificating on someone coming back to you.
Do they have update contact details such as mobile? If its a security check, that is the 1st point of contact followed by a letter.
So give them a ring. you have nothing to lose, and everything to gain.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

To be honest it's something that accidentally turned into a business I suppose and there have been probably 20-25 transactions a month value between £2000-£3000 a month in & out total. Very small profits but I have all paperwork to give to my accountant when he does my accounts for this year. I am already registered as self-employed for my actual job.
I changed account from a gold current account to the standard account as I wasn't using any of the benefits that were costing £12.95 a month. I didn't even think or realise I ought to have a business account if I'm honest but after changing my account over the bank manager did call me the following day to ask if I needed to get a business account. I declined and said will speak to my accountant which I intended to do when I sit down with him to see what he thinks.
I have recently (this week) opened a new business account (for my actual job) and that all went through no problems. This is with Barclays though.0 -

Given that you have literally no idea what's happening with Natwest, when you'll get your current account bank - if ever - perhaps it would be prudent to move your personal banking over to Barclays Bank, too?
They are different groups so the only information they share would be via credit reference agencies, all of which you can see, so given the CIFAS section is empty, you should be fineCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
