Still nothing as of yet. Nothing in the post from bank or HMRC or anyone else either so still unsure on what is happening.

Just have to wait I suppose.

    Hi guys,

Another thought I've had....do banks share information? Like if a bank from a different group was doing certain checks on a person, would they inform other banks outside of their group?

Not about the checks, but they can share information on fraud if they find it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIFAS

If you supply information to any bank, building society, utility company or other financial organisation that they believe to be inaccurate and they suspect fraud, they can share your data with CIFAS.

CIFAS will share this data with the credit reference agencies and in turn anyone who you have financial dealings with can see this CIFAS marker if they conduct any routine checks with the credit reference agencies.

You should be able to see if you have any CIFAS markers by obtaining a copy of your credit file, which you should be able to do online instantly if you have a functional credit card?

There's nothing on my credit report in the CIFAS area. How soon would this show? The hold was placed on Monday apparently.

If a CIFAS record was the reason for Natwest's actions then they would have already been on your credit file prior to their actions commencing.

As this section of your credit file is empty you don't need to worry about this particular issue.

If I were in your position I'd open a bank account with another banking group and arrange for all of your direct debits / standing orders / payments in to go to / from that account.

I would say there is a strong chance of Natwest closing your account given their actions so far; I would suggest calling them and requesting local authorisation for the withdrawal of any remaining funds in the account.

I thought any information the Bank holds on computer for him he can pay a fee of £10 and they provide him with information held.

The SAR request indeed costs £10 but if there is any suspicions of fraud or money laundering - there will be no mention of it because it will not be held on your account file.

If there is suspicions of any of the above you will not be allowed to withdraw anything until the investigations are complete - this will include discussions with outside agencies such as SOCA and HMRC.
