Football tickets for example cannot be re sold by law, could it be that someone in authority has seen your Ebay auctions and reported you?
No not football tickets. Just concerts as I am aware that football tickets cannot be re-sold.
It is possible that I have been reported as I was also unaware that you can be either a private or business seller on eBay. I always thought eBay was eBay so I have had a standard account. I have all paperwork for tickets bought & sold anyway so not a problem, would just like to know what is going on because I can't access my account at all and direct debits won't have been paid.0 -
In large quantities ? Do you get them from an authorised source ?
I was thinking that if you were selling goods which are easily copied, ie. high end designer goods etc, then it might have triggered a check into your business transactions. A lot of counterfeit goods sales are linked to money laundering.
Still speculation though, it's a waiting game.
On average 15 transactions a month I'd say. All bought from authorised sources.
Like you said, its all speculation still so just have to wait.0 -
I'd be surprised if using a personal account for business purposes was sufficient to allow a bank to refuse access and freeze transactions. Surely a more realistic scenario would be for them to give notice of closure?0

That's what I thought. The only thing that i thought maybe could be is that they have seen lots of transactions and investigating it as may be money laundering?? I really don't know but I can only think it to be money laundering checks because surely anything else I'd have had something in the post from say HMRC it like you said, the bank giving me closure for the account.0 -
Event tickets.
I think a read of This page As these fall into the same group of Restricted items. These items may only be listed on eBay under certain conditions:
,As football tickets.
Are all these payments via DD?
Could be the HMRC have picked your account up via ebay and have recieved details from them. Now they have contacted bank for acc details before they hit you with a nice tax bill.
Especially as you are already self employed, they may view this as part of your income. Could explain the freeze as HMRC will not want the funds to be withdrawn.
I think you need to have a word with your accountant, just to make him aware of this....Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

I'd agree. Breaking the terms and conditions in this way isn't sufficiently serious to block an account.0 -
Still no updates to report. Have checked credit file this morning and nothing noted on the CIFAS page, not heard a thing from the bank nor from any other outside 'agency' such as HMRC, police, other banks etc. etc. Don't know anyone else who it could be so will have to continue to wait i suppose.
I have this week opened a new account for my business with Barclays which sailed through no issues whatsoever so not a clue what's going on with NatWest. They've sent me a letter saying direct debits couldn't be collected which I guess is a standard/automatic letter.
Going to Barclay or HSBC today or tomorrow to open a new current account so at least i have a facility for DD's to be paid.0 -
Am I the only smelling something fishy here?
Banks don't freeze accounts without good reasons, its bad PR for them and they need happy punters at the minute.0 -
