Well for the first time in 3 weeks I actually feel almost normal! And now of course that worries me because then I think something's wrong....

    The joys of early pregnancy!

I am 9 weeks so am hoping the feeling better is because my hormones have peaked and are starting to go down a little.

Tempted to book a scan but money's a bit tight at the moment as we are building an extension.

Only just over 3 more weeks till my scan if I can be patient!

Make the most of it.. a few days of being normal then 2 or 3 more weeks of feeling awful is normal

I'm 40 next month, had my DS a few months before my 38th Birthday.

My best friend from school is 4 months younger than me (turns 40 this August).

her daughters are 20 and 18

My oldest is going to be 22 just after this arrives

@ttc40 it is personal and I would recommend telling them only if you feel comfortable doing so. If you have a heartbeat at 7 weeks the risk of miscarriage goes down. I am 16wks and have really only started telling our wider circle if friends. Honestly I still feel awkward telling people so don't feel pressured if your not comfortable it really is none of their business.

Once I hit 7 weeks or so I was very tired and you may need to nap / sleep in so having the data to relax might be a welcome relief rather than boring :)

@sweaty Betty I only told my manager last week (@15wks) I asked him to keep it quiet as I have clients that I would rather not hear through the grapevine and he respected that. Maybe that could be an option for you?

Thanks - I'm hoping to do that. Feeling a bit guilty though as:
1 - there's 4 of us in our team, 1 is on mat leave, 1 is pregnant and due July time so it will be a bit of a headache when they know that I'm pregnant too...
2 - I'm going to be taking up to a morning off per week with my medical appointments (the combined clinic takes almost 2 hours to get through) and I think people will think I'm going to be swinging the lead a bit...

    Ah well :-)

Hello ladies. I had a little bit of blood last time I went to the loo. I'm only 6wks tomorrow. Scared stiff that I'm losing this one as only lost my last one end Nov at 8wks. I daren't google it as I know that will make me more upset. Anyone had this before and been ok? I had a pink discharge last night - tiny amount and just once but was told last time this was ok as I have a heart shaped womb. A&e can't do anything at weekends. Please help, I'm so upset. :'(

Angel - so sorry you are having this worry..I know it only too well.

You are right not to Google as most of the stories you'll find on there will often have a bad outcome as I've always found people tend not to come back and update with good news much.

Was it a lot of blood? A bit when you wipe is quite usual. ALso was it bright red or brown?

I had a bit of pink spotting around 5.5 weeks with this pregnancy and was convinced I was losing again. However the spotting stopped after one evening, and all went on to be ok.

Angelmommy a bit of blood early on can be quite normal so don't worry too much until you know for sure. Could you maybe get in touch with nhs 24? They were very helpful when I lost my first. Thinking of you, hope your baby stays safe, take it easy and look after yourself xx

Thank you MV and lemonmelon. I daren't go to the loo again to check! It was only when I wiped - urine was normal. It was bright red. I went to a&e last time on a Saturday and all they did was keep me there for over 4 hours then sent me home and back in for a scan when sonographer in (mon-fri) so will call midwife in morning. Keeping my fingers crossed! X

Hi there - sorry to hear this, hopefully it'll turn out to be nothing and stop soon. Personally if there was still some blood tomorrow I'd get down to a&e and see if they'll scan you to give some reassurance at least.

Fingers crossed all will be ok, I know it's horrible when this happens.

    Hi Angelmommy
Sorry to hear what you are going through. I've heard blood can be from the cervix sometimes so nothing to do with the baby, let's hope that is the case for you.

Sweaty Betty - I would tell work, given how frequently you will be at clinic. I'd imagine it's a hard one to lie through and they may think you are going for jobs elsewhere or something. I had this dilemma in my last pregnancy as I was working on contract but had the opportunity to stay on a permanent contract about the time I found out I was expecting. I had a tense couple of weeks waiting for the paperwork to come through whilst juggling hospital appointments, practically as soon as the ink was dry I came clean to my boss thinking he'd instantly regret taking me on, but he was actually really nice about it all so sometimes things are not as bad as we think they'll be.
This time round I have told my boss everything already and its made things a lot easier. He's said if I become unable to drive later in my pregnancy then they can find alternative ways of working which is a big relief.

TTC40 a totally personal choice but I'd be tempted to tell the truth with my friends on the holiday, you're right you are juggling the not drinking and the not ski ing. One or the other you could possibly get away with but both together will be hard. Also if you are very cagey about why may they think you have some terrible disease or something? Would that be worse than them thinking you are pregnant?

AFM I have been struck with horrendous tiredness - can't get enough sleep. Stayed up with friends playing monopoly last night (yup that's as exciting as it gets now) but boy am I paying for it today, had a three hour nap and still knackeroonied. Still I've not had much morning sickness so its not too bad.
