I put Treevo on ignore, but have decided to see what he was talking about.
I have not worked since January 2012, and was asking about those amounts on behalf of someone else who does not know about the MSE. Rather than say - "A friend of mine - - - -- -- - -- ", I just decided to ask.
As I said in an earlier post, we are O/D every month and have nothing to spare. We haven't been to a pub or restaurant in ages.
Maybe Treevo should have a look at post 120 for the reason I said Age Concern.

Sorry Andy, but given your posts below that doesn't quite ring true.

I am going through a pretty bad time at the moment, and I was seeking advice for what seems to be a quite complicated situation.

Just to remind you, the opening post asked whether or not it was right of my sister to let my dad go on a 10 mile bus journey to the doctors on his own, to get the results of a CAT scan, bearing in mind that she is the one who is very concerned about his mental state and memory.

Yes that is correct, we drove there, to be at a relations wedding, and we didn't need any extra costs for hotels. We paid £49 for the crossing, £260 for fuel, about £40 for tolls. We lived off supermarket food in France, didn't stop in Switzerland, and the food was supplied in Italy.

I hope that you have a good time looking up all this information.

We paid for that holiday by selling our newer petrol engined car and buying an older more economical diesel.

That is exactly right, there is nothing at all conflicting there.
My sistser has been working on and off in one specialist career - as a carer. She started off in nursing homes then became a live in carer about twenty years ago.

There is something very odd about the whole situation :o

Caring isn't a specialist career. It requires minimal training and has no essential qualifications.

To be honest I think this is more a rant about the sister than genuine concern for his father.

If I thought something was amiss with my parents/grandparents I would be round there like a shot despite my own none too inconsiderable difficulties; not coming up with reasons why I couldn't.

I totally agree with you on the second point (I think that she only possesses an NVQ), but this is what she has done her entire life, ergo she has specialised in it. If she had branched out into other areas such as general nursing or childcare, then that would not have been the case. She however has specialised in care for the elderly.

To be fair, it is both
