how do you input it - doesnt let you choose charactersIf at first you don't succeed - destroy all evidence that you tried.0 -
You need to "pair" the 2 devices first before launching TomTom first time (it will be automatic afterwards). Just enable Bluetooth on the phone and switch on the receiver. From the phone, you need to create a New BlueTooth connection after detecting the navman. Once it is discovered, pair them. It will ask for a passkey. You need to change the key setting on your phone to ABC (all capital letters - I think you need to press the * or # button to do this) and enter "NAVMAN". It will pair. Now open TomTom and under GPS settings, choose "other Bluetooth receivers" and it should automatically find it.
After this has been done, you won't need to go through it again. When TomTom is opened next time you use it, Bluetooth will be enabled and the pairing will be done automatically.
Sussed the navman issue - thanks to previous poster!!If at first you don't succeed - destroy all evidence that you tried.0 -
I know, I know, I've probably missed the boat on this one but please can someone tell me if the offer is still around, the best way to order it and how much it should come to.
I've read as much as my brain will take (very little - pea sized cromium)
Many thanks, gc0 -

As posted way back in this thread, the following Bluetooth GPS is compatible with the Lobster:
http://www.totalpda.co.uk/Navman-SPiN-100-GPS-Navigation-system.aspx
I got this receiver this morning but I cannot get it to connect to the Lobster. No matter what, I continue to get the two blue light flashes every 1.5 seconds (which indicates no connection was made between the devices). The manual said you only get one light flash every 1.5 seconds when a successful connection is made.
I have also bought Route 66 v7 which is the package I am trying to use the receiver with.
Using set of config screens found by using the Settings -> Connections -> Bluetooth -> Devices menu options I can get the Lobster to "see" the GPS receiver, set it up to communicate using Com6, and the device stays listed in in the bluetooth devices list. But, I just cannot get it to connect.
The only thing I can think of is the passkey I enter is wrong. Looking all around the 'net the only passkey value I can find is 1234. Is that correct?
Majik - if you are around, can you please let me know how you configured the GPS receiver to work with the Lobster?
Cheers and TIA,
Daz.
Looks like we are treading the same path. My navman spin 100 arrived this morning too! Please tell me if Route 66 v7 works and where you bought it.
I have tried the spin 100 software, but without success (i just put it all on a micro sd and tried to run autostart - didn't work). If it worked with windows mobile 2003, I can't see any reason it shouldn't work with mobile 5, but there you go.
I thought I would go for the tomtom 5.2 that everyone keeps mentioning but can't find it available anywhere (not the smartphone version anyway).
keep us updated with your progress with route 66.0 -

Totoriko,
Three posts above your last I quoted your previous instructions, clearly no-one wants to read these or be bothered looking for them.
Thanks again.
P.s. I hope you don't mind but I also quoted you on the techie board for this phone, which I thought may be useful.

@totoriko - I apologise if asking that question got you angry. When using the site search engine, entering NAVMAN gave me no results. So, yes, I did search first.
@you - Once I set the passkey to NAVMAN, it all worked a treat. I found that to get it to connect I had to start Route 66 first, then start the GPS receiver. For some reason, if I started the GPS before Route 66, it would never connect. Once connected, it took about a minute to find enough satellites to start the route planning process.
I got route 66 from the same place as I got the GPS receiver. You can find it at:
http://www.totalpda.co.uk/Route-66-Mobile-7-WMS-UK-Software-DVD.aspx
Remember that although it costs £40, you can get £10 off if you go through Google checkout. To be honest, you cannot go wrong for £30.
Route 66 software is pretty good and it does the job pretty well. I have to say that Route 66 took me home the route I would normally drive.
The problem is I have TomTom 6 on my PDA which, in my opinion, is just that little bit better. I am pretty gutted that TomTom haven't developed a non-touch screen version of v6 which is suitable for smartphones.
Unfortunately, I have never used TomTom Mobile 5 so I am not really sure what differences there are between them or, for that matter, this differences between TomTom 5 and 6.0 -
Tom Tom 6 works on non-touch screen mobiles. I run TomTom Navigator 6 on my Nokia N73 - no touch screen on that!
The maps on TTM5 are outdated. Personally, I prefer TT6 (plus my N73 has a bigger screen and better speaker system). In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
