A few words of caution with this phone, if you leave pocket MSN signed in you will slowly use up your credit, even if you are not messaging anyone.

Yes it will because MSN needs to keep you logged on by transferring data across GPRS. As for the TV license problem, I didn't reset my phone but I did switch off and on several times to transfer files into my MicroSD and now it's lost. I haven't been able to re install a new license successfully since.

    Hi guys

Does anyone know if they automatically deduct the license fee from your balance once the 90 day free TV trial is up, or can you opt out of this???

I would like to give this a go with the free trial of TV but I prolly wont continue with it once thats expired, so if they auto deduct fees from my balance, i'll have to pass on the phone (and I want to play! :( )

    Cheers

I don't think its a license fee as such. Just that Virgin charge you £5 per month for the television service (after a 90 day trial period) :j

I've just tested the DAB in a long car drive (I was the passenger) and it works a treat - no interference at all in my area.

I also stuck in a freebie virgin SIM - I got a few when I first signed up to MSE a few years ago - also works a treat and I got £5.00 free credit on it.

    Just gets better.

it might work now but what about after 90 days when the free tv trial finishes? you will find you have to pay £5 for the licence. I am gonna see what happens in my case.

according to virgin when you first subscribe to the tv service it makes note of the imei number of the phone and not the sim/phone number. So in theory you can change your simn card to another virgin card etc

As long as you have a contract sim with virgin then you don't need to pay anything , i put sons contract sim into phone as soon as it arrived & license thing was done on phone then , customer services confirmed that if you have a contract sim with virgin then you don't pay anything after the 90 days.

I'm on PAYG, if i don't use the TV after 90 days I take it I won't be charged? Might've bought this one a bit too quickly!

After the 90 days you'll recieve an option if you want to renew, I dont think they will take the £5 if you dont want to continue... BBC1 is free for a while yet.

    Well

This phone saved my Sunday afternoon. I had to visit somebody with all the children in the car and got completely lost.

Last night I had downloaded the GoogleMap mobile program for Smartphones and using that I managed to find my way back to the town.

It uses GPRS to get the maps but is great in an emergency.

Anybody know of any other good applications for this phone.
