I became a Starbucks victim...

Options
For a company that offers every kind of fancy drink on the planet they don't half get the basics wrong!

I can only drink skimmed milk and tend to avoid them when it's busy as I can't see them make my drink.

I got a tea with hot skimmed milk but later needed more milk as it was too strong. I asked for more and I assumed she'd just put a lot in as it was super milky... oh 10 minutes later...

I think i'll stick to costa, pret uppercrust, cafe nero, e.t.c... at least they show each milk colour top!!

Starbucks STILL use whole milk jugs when they claim they dont do whole milk!

  • Make your own and put it in a thermos
  • Starbucks make drinks with skimmed milk or whole milk. They don't claim they don't use whole milk!

Out of interest did you ask specifically for some skimmed milk when you went for your top up?

I'm not sure what you can expect buying tea in an American chain.

Agreed. Go for a good quality European chain at least then you can be assured your horse milk will be semi-skimmed only! :A

They do both types of milk. They also have signs that say of the drink is not made how you like, it, they will remake it for you, did you ask for a new drink?

While there are MANY thing Starbucks does wrong, on this occasion I do not think you are a 'victim'.

If your read the OP you will see that the reason for asking for skimmed milk was because of a medical condition and the OP reacted to the fat in the milk 10 minutes later, so having the drink remade would not have helped.

In this case SB most certainly did do something wrong.

And for all the numpties who made fatuous comments about SB being a coffee company:

    1) Just because your main focus is one product does not entitle you to sell other things that are substandard.

    2) The reaction of those who cannot properly digest dairy fat can be extremely unpleasant so this is not a trivial matter.

    3) Is it beyond your wit to work out that if they have mixed up the milk then they will make the same mistake with people sho want skimmed milk in their coffee? rolleyes.gif

The OP asked for and got skimmed milk. Starbucks made the drink correctly.
OP then asked for more milk, but didn't specify skimmed milk, instead assumed that it would be skimmed milk.

You know why they say you should never assume...

    LOL. :rotfl:

    You are assuming.

The OP does not explicitly say that she asked for skimmed milk (and she certainly does not state she didn't) but it's a pretty safe bet that she did because someone who suffers from the reaction she did is hardly likely to risk the SB operative just happenimng to remember her original order.

Starbucks would only have done something wrong if the OP has asked specifically for skimmed milk in the top up and got whole milk instead. If you have a medical condition or an allergy or similiar, then you need to take responsibility for it and make sure you specify what you need. I wouldn't be surprised if Starbucks use whole milk as standard, so it's probably very important to specify and not assume the staff will remember your order in what can be a very busy environment.
