It's not rocket science to make your own tea if you have health issues that preclude consuming certain products, or drink something other than tea or coffee if you are out having lunch with with a friend. Plenty of people with food issues - Muslim, vegetarian, peanut allergy, coeliac - take extra precautions when they are out in order to avoid risks.

So, by your logic, no one with any medically necessary dietary restrictions should ever eat out and if they do it's entirely their own fault if they suffer as the result of incompetence of the cafe/restaurant?

The OP did take precautions: they asked for skimmed milk. Then they were given full fat.

Starbucks got it completely wrong and if the OP had had a serious reaction and there were any witnesses to what happened they would have been liable. And rightly so.

If they are so incompetent that they cannot get orders correct where health issues may be involved they should not be offering products that may give rise to these issues. (In the way that any food supplier is likely to make clear that they cannot guarantee freedom from nuts in many products.)
If you check the website Starbucks do claim to use whole milk. Clicked through from the UK site http://globalassets.starbucks.com/assets/365D87B449604BABA7D9986EB3BAA7C8.pdf
    And again here http://starbucks.co.uk/menu/nutrition

They supply drinks with skimmed, semi-skimmed or unskimmed.

They do not claim that they will give you a drink containing full fat milk if you ask for skimmed. rolleyes.gif
Do explain how tea is "the basics" in a COFFEE house, it is the OP's first sentence that I find amusing.

Are you really this stupid or are you trying to win a bet?

The issue is that they added full fat milk to the drink, not what the flavour of the drink was.
There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.

My input on this and I have similar issues, is that although Starbucks were wrong. If I was the OP and the drink tasted too milky i would not have assumed they put a lot of skimmed milk in. I would have suspected they had messed it up and not risked drinking it. It's not worth being ill over a £3 drink!

Although you should expect accurate service, that's never guaranteed, so any doubts throw it out!

I've always found Starbucks the best for getting my drink right. At my local Costa you have to repeat your order about 5 times if it's anything remotely different from the norm ( I have a small, weak soy latte). Whereas Starbucks just take it straight in...but that's just me.............

I love Starbucks for their seasonal drinks,

And you dont trust them because you can't see it? Wow...
Actually thinking about it, what freaking place are you going to? I've been to...Rather a lot of coffee shops with that name, and you can see everything they do, it's one of their trademarks,
