we have a routine here aswell and Jade is very good, it is a nightmare to get her to sleep and stay that way during the da ybut at night, i feed her in bed, give her a bottle, change nappy and put sleeping bag on and turn lights off, she usually wants more boobie milk after bottle, i think it is confort; She sleeps and even when she gets up crying asking for milk still feeds with her eyes closed ,every feed, it melts my heart.Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0

Ah knew I had something else to say
missbunbury - did your reusable nappies leak or did they survive the onslaught?
I must say I'm very happy with our reusables and they don't leak poo (almost ever) and only leak wee if they are sopping wet and I should really have changed him already.
We did use disposables about a month back now for a trip where we weren't going to be able to do laundry, I was glad to go back to my reusables as they don't smell. One tip for disposables is to make sure the ruffles are tucked in rather than out but it sounds like your poonamis might be too much even for that.0 -
Thank you very much for the input, I'll continue like this for a week and see if I need to change anything. I do not know if it has been just luck, but I only needed about 10 minutes of bouncing and she did not cry like other days before falling asleep. Once she's asleep, though, she's great and I do not need to do anything during the night, just feed her if she asks for it and straight in the moses. I have the cotbed at home now but we haven't assembled it yet. Now I need to figure out a way to make her sleep in the day somewhere else other than in the carrier!!!
Hey, savage!! Good to know you were just busy!Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

We tonight have tried feed, change and into grow bag at 8.30 then put him down. Didn't want to leave him upstairs alone (no monitor) so snuggled him up on the sofa with lights dimmed. After 10 mins he went straight to sleep
We've come up at 11 and he's now having another feed and we'll put him straight down. See how it goes! Although daddy reports he's just filled his nappy! Joy! Lol0 -
The reusables were better, annoyingly, but I have accepted that battle is lost and am moving on. Have been using the tip (forget who from sorry) about paying more attention to unflattening the edges and today's poo was not so bad. Having said that it was a littler poo than usual and I am fingers crossed that doesn't mean she is plotting a nighttime poo cos those are a special kind of dreadful!
Listen to me, moaning about poo, I've had a lovely day actually. OH got up early and took the baby off while I had an hour's truly restful lie-in, then they brought me cereal and coffee in bed, then card and choccies bless them (well, him really.) It was lovely, I love being a mummy.0 -
I'm going to attempt a proper routine: nappy change, top and tail clean, oil pampering/massage, vest and gro bag, feed in bedroom, ewan whilst I tell her a story, then more ewan whilst bouncing her to sleep and cot. The plan is to make her sleepy and eventually skip the bouncing altogether, how does it sound to you? I am trying it today for the first time, but she "chatted" and smiled all time when I was reading a story. Should I take that off, or will she understand it's bed time and not play time? Anyone had any luck with routines? I don't want to try control crying unless I'm desperate.
I think she's too young for controlled crying, marta. I know it divides people anyway - some swear it's given them their lives back, some find it too upsetting, but, AFAIK, what is agreed upon is that it's not recommended for little, little ones.
Under six months, you've just got to be reactive and meet their needs (regardless of how demanding those needs are).
A routine's a good idea. It doesn't matter what it is, or how long it is (Freddie's bedtime routine is very short). It's just important to do the same thing every evening. Keep things calm and quiet but I wouldn't worry about the chatting - she's happy!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Morning ladies, happy birthday Aiden!!!! (Really hope I've remembered that right...)
We had a much better night last night, although the wind is howling round here and the vents in our double glazing howl like angry ghosts constantly. And it's snowing. Really ready for some decent weather now!
Ha savage re disposable nappies, the one thing we've found is the ruffles have to be out not in, just goes to show how different babies are!
Any advice on when you switch you to cows milk - do you just replace the bfs with it or give it at other times too? As he's still pretty much on demand at the moment, 3-4 times a day, I'm a bit stumped on how to start the switch. Won't be doing it for another month or so anyway but I'm pretty sure my milk is on its way out now anyway.Newborn thread member

Yes, rufles have to be out too here. Well, there are two, one has to be out and the other one around the leg but also more out than in. I need to stretch out and pull all the edges of the nhappy before putting it on. I guess it depends of the shape of the baby.
I have just managed to get her to sleep without walking around. I'm still bouncing, but I'm sat on the gym ball and she's laying on my lap, which it's better than walking her around the flat upright, my shoulders start to hurt now. I think this is a one off, though! I started bouncing at the first yawn, but I think what did it was the milk just before.
I ordered the breadmaker!!!! I'll get it on Wednesday, any book recommendation? What kind of flour, yeast, other ingredients should I have in the cupboard? I want to try a pizza, French bread and a white loaf this week!!! I can't believe I'm this excited for a kitchen gadget! But then, I love food and I like controlling the ingredients of what I'm eating and try to cook everything from scratch, but my handmade bread was awful!!!Quit smoking *1st January 2010*
