  • I gave lo baby rice with a squirt of a fruit pouch, made him gobble it all up every time, but we soon went on fruity porridge because baby rice is pants!

Erm clocks going back......... I didn't know! So now I'm confused as to what time it is. My phone says 07:05, is that right?

    Baby rice is rubbish.

Hear, hear! My LO hated the stuff, and once I'd tasted it myself I knew why. The rest of the pack went in the bin.

ETA: We didn't do BLW. My LO loved purees made from things like sweet potato, butternut squash, carrot and parsnip. I'd second the Annabel Karmel suggestion, and also used this website a lot in the early days. It's great for looking up ingredients and getting ideas for different flavours that might work together (including things I'd never have thought of, like banana and avocado, which was very popular with my LO!).

We're kind of running with blw as my sis got on so well with it and it's now what the HV recommends. Might try some bits this week. Over at my mums this week and poor little T is finding it hard to adjust. Think he got scared being in a different cot in a different room. Only slept 5.5 hrs on Friday, had only 1hr nap in the day and then would sleep until he exhausted himself at 11pm last night. He had usual bedtime routine and went asleep in cot about 8.30pm, so I left him with nightlight on, 5 mins later he was wailing. And pretty much for the next 2 hrs sobbing unless we cuddled him tight :( only woke at 6 this morning and then we had a nice cuddle in our bed and he slept til 8.30 (old time). Hopefully tonight will be a little easier.
Hope we can all time shift eventually.
Boo to those who had a rough night.x

Don't know what happened last night but baby slept from 11pm till 4.00am so I had a good sleep. He's usually awake at 1am but he skipped that. He's fed alot this morning though and he's always groaning and straining lately, as well as spitting up. Bit concerned really. So far he's only cried for food and when his nappy is being changed .. now he's doing a very intermittent whiny kind of cry which stops if I move his position but then he'll start up again after a while. Oh says babies cry. ..I know but it's the groaning noises that are bothering me! !!!
  • think I've got a slight infection in my c section wound so will need to go to the walk in centre tomorrow (the chances of getting an appointment with my gp are slim). Also need to register baby with the gp (fortunately they're next door to the walk in so hopefully OH will be able to do that while I'm waiting).

Baby's still very windy. Farts a lot and burps, isn't being sick as much now. He's sleeping quite well, wakes up about every 4 hours at night, and 2 hours in the day. I never thought I'd spend so much time examining wind patterns and poo!

OH is back at work now, I think he's missing the day to day stuff, and always volunteers to do feeds etc when he gets home which is really nice. Baby is definitely a daddy's boy.

    Dear British Winter Time,

Please be aware that the clocks going back doesn't mean 'an hour of extra sleep' for everyone, despite the media hype. For some of us it means getting up in pitch black darkness at 5.30am. Little people don't necessarily share our appreciation of 'an hour's extra sleep'.

    Just so you know.

    Yours truly,
    One Tired Mother

Awww bless you Nutella. Have a dodgy hug :grouphug:

Weather really getting up now. I'm rather excited about this storm :j Sad though that is :o

I've been scrubbing the doorstep... I felt like a character from a saga novel :o:o I only used leftover water from mopping the kitchen floor for the really disgusting bit under where the doormat goes but still. Also I did the living room windows, kitchen spotless, tidied my bedroom on Saturday, just the bathroom to go and my house will look respectable-ish

Little miss been asleep ages, Squeak fell asleep after a mammoth almost 2hr park trip earlier so that'll be them up all night!
Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession :o:o

Evening all - I've not had time to read back just at the moment but look forward to reading and replying properly in a few days time.

My little miss is being a rascal at the moment; turned 6 months yesterday!!! Where has the time gone??? But after waking 6 out of the past 7 nights at 4ish for a feed, last night she slept till 6am then went back down till half 7 which was fabulous!

I've spent this afternoon making her a halloween outfit for her music group on Friday - its a dress up session and I don't want her to be the odd one out. How silly am I as I'm sure she won't be any the wiser at this age!!!

We're starting weaning, have started down the baby led route as it seems most natural to me and I don't think she is much impressed going by the facial expressions! Hehe I have my camera to hand as we go.

My folks are due to be going home tomorrow so fingers crossed this predicted storm doesn't cause too much disruption.

    have a safe night all

    Evening all :)

Hope everyone's well and has had a good day. We spent the day indoors as it was way too windy to go anywhere, but had a nice day. Got quite a bit of housework done, and finally managed to wash all our curtains. I dare not say how long it'd been since last time

I'm pleased to report that my happy little girl is back (we still have tantrums, but she's not miserable anymore) - along with her very first molar. So there we are - that was what caused the screaming, clinginess and general unsettled-ness over the past few days. How many more molars will we have to suffer through?.... :(

Delain, thanks for the dodgy hug :)

Tiny, hope you manage to get your infection sorted.

Bangton, yay for a good night!

Thank you all for your advice on the weaning thing :). LO cannot sit up without support nor is her head steady - but she does have quite a large head!!!!:D So I will wait a bit longer! Sorry....I did mean baby porridge rather than rice as that's what I have bought - all mush to me!!! I have just ordered a vegetarian baby cookbook - she is going to be brought up to eat what I eat so I am hoping for inspiration! I also have the Cow & Gate weaning booklet which looks good for purees!

I had to take her to hospital today just to make sure - she has a viral rash caused apparently by her cold. The nurse she saw last week told me it was thrush when she saw bum - but its spread to her belly and face....quite alarming but I'm glad its nothing too serious - her bum is a bit sore looking though....!

Did anyones LO get the heebie geebies (!) when they first took them out after dark? We have taken her out twice in the dark in the pram (since the evenings have become darker) and she cries her eyes out and screams! I don't really know what to do - she sleeps in complete darkness - but I am assuming its shadows that are scaring her. Anyone else have this problem and how long did it take for LO to overcome their fear of going out in the dark? Its going to be a loooong winter if I can't take her out in the dark!:(

Bangton T groans when he's sleepy. It's like a long grumbly winge if that helps?
Delain, very organised. I too am a little excited by the storm... Hope no one gets hurt though.
Saf good luck with your parents trip home and blw, I'm keen to hear your updates!
Ihatedida my LO is a bit of a fraidy cat in the dark. We noticed first in the car, put on the backseat light and he settled down fine. I'd see how you go, I'd be tempted to get a little battery LED night light, or something to put maybe on the hood of the pram?
Hoping for a more settled bedtime tonight.
    Night all.x
