Yes thanks Nutella it was actually amazing! No problems whatsoever and we got to school on time :j I expect the problems will come when the novelty wears off :rotfl:
Aahh go on, make bread. It's what I would do, but I'm the world's biggest procrastinatorI might actually do some later when I get home from taking little miss out to lunch and we can swap photos :rotfl:

Must admit the one thing me and OH have always agreed on is he doesn't get another main meal - don't want to start having to do multiple meals every day. Last night was much better anyway, no tantrums at all. Funny little monkey.
G has an open cup a lot of the time now too, at mealtimes and when he has his morning and afternoon snacks sat with me on the sofa. His sippy is always handy for him to help himself to. He's pretty good with the cup, although last night I said to OH to watch how good he is with and as he knew he had an audience didn't pay attention and tipped when it was still about 6inches from his mouth! And now I've been having a sneaky read on here while he has his sandwich and he's been dipping the crusts in the water. Nice.Newborn thread member

Please tell me colds don't last long!! I feel like poo on a stick! Lo came in our bed earlier last night so I didn't sleep at all, just had a nap but feel like crap.
My lo has had a play with a sippy but didn't get that he has to put his mouth different for the teat bit! What age did your Los get the difference from bottle to cup?Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -

I'm sorry to say that if and when your child is at nursery, the average cold lasts from September to April. It's technically a series of colds, but you won't be able to tell when one ends and the next one starts. Prior to this, they don't normally last for more than a few days, so fingers crossed things will improve soon x
We started giving LO water in a sippy when she was 6 months (we used this one) and she understood what to do with it pretty quickly, but it took much longer to switch her milk bottles over as she would just scream. At 16 months, her bedtime milk still comes in a bottle - it's just not a battle I'm going to fight, given how much comfort it gives herFor water at home and at nursery during the day (and for morning milk), we now use this. And we have one of these that lives in the basket under the buggy.
Some people on here had to try a few different sippy cups before finding one that their LO was happy with (Gilly's enormous collection springs to mind!), so you could always try a different one if, after a while, he still doesn't 'get it'.0 -

Ohno, hope you feel better quickly! Get some vitamin c!
re sippy cups we used this one first, it took him a fair while to figure it out - I just expected him to grab and glug it down but it took a long time before he was able tip it properly himself. He still has that type for his milk but for water (when not in an open cup) he has http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tommee-Tippee-Kid-On-Assortment/dp/B000Q79LDY/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1380025328&sr=1-1&keywords=tommee+tippee+kids+on+the+go which is fine for drinking but the sticker went all scraggy and peeling off after just a week or so of use so probably wouldn't recommend.
G is very picky about the spout - it has to have a hard spout or he won't even try it, so worth trying a soft and a hard perhaps til you get one that suits. G would never go for a bottle either, perhaps he's just squeamish about the soft teat. He is a funny one!Newborn thread member

Hi Ladies
This is my first post on this thread but I recognise a lot of the names from the pregnancy threads - my LO is 7 weeks old and although adorable I am completely knackered and getting to the end of my wits with breastfeeding. It was just getting manageable when she had her 6 week growth spurt and she's still feeding every 2 hours. That would be ok if it weren't for the fact that she's taking an hour or more to feed each time. I think it's that her latch isn't very deep - my boobs are really big (36JJ) and although all the HVs are telling me to feed her cross cradle I find it terribly uncomfortable because I feel like my arm's going to drop off after 5 minutes. As I'm using the other hand to support my boob I can't gather enough pillows/cushions to support her, and if I try she drops off the boob and loses any decent latch. I have tried every position going: cradle, rugby ball, laid back, lying down etc but nothing really helps and she pauses/clicks a lot. I know she's getting enough overall because she's gaining weight and doing lots of nappies - she had her check up today and she's in great shape. It's just that I don't have time to do anything as she only stops feeding when she dozes off. When she does she usually sleeps so lightly that any attempt by me results in her waking up and yelling loudly. She is always giving feeding cues too - tongue poking, licking and rooting, and putting her to the breast always calms her. She does seem to be drinking too, although the feeds are prolonged because of all the breaks - sometimes she'll go off for a few minutes but she will often look to go back on again. TBH unless I have to get up to change her, answer the door or on the rare occasion I look to feed myself (!) we would just sit in the one place all day long. I know when OH is around to help at the weekends she likes to play and interact with him, and she's definitely becoming more alert. It's just that I'm feeling miserable that all I do is stick my boob in her mouth, and I'm wondering when it might start to get a bit easier.
I know that when I did venture out yesterday and gave her a bottle of expressed milk she gulped it all down really quickly and seemed more content. I've ordered a double electric breast pump and a moby wrap (already had a medela swing but although my supply's pretty good I've not had the time to use it due to the frequency of her feeds, so hoping a double will let me express a feed more quickly so I can go to hair appointment etc and not worry that I'll have to try feeding her with my head in foils... Also due to have a scan soon for my own medical issues, and don't have any childcare sorted yet (both families are far away, my friends are all childless and they and DH all work full time anyway).
I really don't want to give up BF just yet, because I think I'd regret it if it got easier when she's grown and her mouth's a bit bigger. I would love to hear from other people if they've had similar experiences and what they did - it would help so much to be able to quantify when it might get easier. At the moment it feels like it'll be endless and I'm struggling with it all to be frank.
Sorry too for the long, mardy post...

Hi Oscar, just a quick one, you're doing brilliantly and you're getting to the point where it should be getting easier, so keep going if you can do. To keep your supply up any time you will be missing a feed in favour of an expressed bottle, pump that feed.
R.e the constant feeding, the long feeds, the struggling to latch, screams tongue tie to me. If there is a lactation consultant in your area, I'd definitely try get in touch. Midwives and HV's aren't great at finding tongue ties and I know several people from here have been told nope, definitely no tongue tie only for a lactation consultant to find one and I'd hate for you to give up bfeeding if it's what you really want to do and find out it's something that could be easily sorted
All that being said, some babies will feed more often than others, and every 2 hours does sound normal for some little ones.
Welcome too
Also r.e the cups, we use the Tommee Tippee tall beaker Katie linked for milk, an anyway up cup for water and the Tesco value open beakers for water like Delain mentioned. Phew! The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
I've found the most incredibly supercute, non-pink winterboots for LO! :jThese from Clarks. I had to force myself to walk away - we're not buying boots until we get back from holiday in three weeks' time, as who knows how much her feet might grow between now and then?.... But the lady in the shop promised me they'd still be selling them, as they've just come in new for winter. Love love love them0
