Thanks Gilly, what you're describing is roughly what I do, so I think I'll stick with that then
Open cup - you're one brave woman!

I couldn't agree more - a poorly baby needs comfort and cuddlesMy LO normally ends up in the bed in the spare room with me whenever she's ill or teething - which seems to be most nights at the moment

I only give it at lunch and dinner, the rest of the day he has a beaker
He doesn't throw it now, he's just enthusiastic sometimes in putting it down! :rotfl:
The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Thanks Nutella, I'm hoping he doesn't smack me again but if he does I'll try your methods.
Aiden sometimes throws his fork and spoon on the floor. I just tend to pick it up and say 'dont throw your fork, its for your dinner' load it with a bit of food and then praise it up for him using it. No idea if it works, or if its right, but if I didn't pick it up he would use his hands for the whole meal so I figured throwing the fork is a better habit than that!
Anyone recommend a booster highchair seat for the dining table? At my mums yesterday she ordered a takeaway for tea, I didn't want A to have any, plus it was coming later than his usual tea time so I took his own tea and fed him earlier. Thought he could have the odd prawn cracker while we ate later. Anyway, he plonked himself next to my sisters hubby on a chair and seemed happy enough, I gave him a little bowl of boiled rice and a bit of chicken and he sat ever so nicely and ate really well. OH thinks it may be because he was sat on our level so he wants to get one of the booster seats. xxLittle Man born 11 March 2012 :smileyhea

Tesco value plastic cups are fantastic for this! just put a small bit in the bottom to start with, and definitely not Ribena :rotfl: I just put it on the table somewhere and she goes and finds it when she wants it.
I have the cups for both my smaller ones to use (4 for £1.50) and also the bowls are great for grapes etc. And they are quite colourful. Not blue and white striped
Sunshine my LO is very similar in age to Aiden and just sits on the normal chairs! I tried boosters but she just wanted to escape.
We have to finish adapting to Squeak being at nursery every day... it has thrown lunch out a bit. We have breakfast pretty early (before 7 most days) and occasionally I'll do extra toast as well as cereal, not unheard of for little miss to be sat in her buggy with toast :rotfl:
We've had face hitting too... I just say a firm 'NO' and then carry on as usual!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Thanks delain, I'm thinking lets just save £20-£30 and see if he is okay at the table. OH is a bit protective and likes him to be buckled in etc!
Just browsing h & m for some new clothes :P xxLittle Man born 11 March 2012 :smileyhea

I got a cheap one from Argos, not 100% happy with it, but they were literally the only place with any. £11.99 I think? Plus sides, it's very easy to clean, quite simple to work out (no damn instructions!). Minus sides, seems quite big but have nothing to compare it to, the straps are very awkward to adjust, they wouldn't just pull tight. It won't go right under my table, but I guess it means I can't shove him in too far by mistake0

Oh, I don't do another meal either, but my choice of pudding varies by what he ate or drank. If fussy about drinking I do fruit pouch (not a common problem), if not much food then probably cereal bar, nibbly finger or malt loaf. And then maybe a banana later. I don't think he's a huge eater as a whole?0

Aiden loves nibbly fingers/cereal bars!! Trying to find a replicate recipe to home make them but no luck as yet! XLittle Man born 11 March 2012 :smileyhea

Morning all
Hope all the little people slept well. Rubbish night here - to add to her cold, I think she's now teething againBut she seems much better today and hasn't had a temperature in the past 24 hours, so I'm planning to take her to the nursery in time for lunch so I can get some work done. She's now having a nap.
In other news, my breadmaker just arrived! I really should leave it in the kitchen untouched until this evening and do some work, but I really really want to open it and play with it and find the recipe booklet and buy the ingredients I need and spend the afternoon baking bread
Delain, hope this morning's buggy board adventure worked out according to plan!
Hope everyone has a good day x0
