My LO has been prescribed antibotics, DH has tried to give them to her this morning and she is gagging and vomiting because of the meds.

I've told DH to ring the surgery and have a chat with a doctor to see if there is anything we can do.

Anyone had anything like this, is there anything I can do to stop the gag reflex? Any ideas what I can do to make the meds taste better?

Ah no must have been stressy sparkles, there were a couple of times a few weeks ago when it took 2 of us taking it in turns to settle our little one. Now at 11 wks he still doesn't like going off on his own in the crib, would probably help if he had a dummy but he won't take one now. I have found kind of swaddling him for his cuddles til he falls asleep helps, that way when I put him down he doesn't notice. Cos he kept waking as soon as he got on the mattress and doing the 'arms out in fright' thingy.
Saffa you are lucky though, Hayden is nowhere near sleeping that much :( He has been sleeping for 3 hours the first chunk then 1-2 hours the next few wake ups. Any advice would be great, what kind of routine are you in?I'm finding it hard to establish any kind of day routine as some nights i've had hardly any sleep so if he will sleep in the morning we stay in ed til lunchtime! Evenings I have been doing late bath, massage, pjs and warm bottle of expressed milk.

Sounds like you're doing it all right Dippy. I too found that the 1st sleep was the longest, so when he goes down, go to bed too (even if it's 8 or 9pm for a couple of weeks). The sleeping will come, T will go through sometimes, but only just happened all of a sudden over the past couple of weeks, so you may well have at least another month before H settles well at night, sounds like it is getting a bit better. We've sort of a bit of a routine. Feeding roughly 7, 10, 1, 4, 7 & 9 (last feed, although some nights won't settle until nearer 11pm) & sometimes he'll have a 2am. He'll have a little kip for 30 mins or so between the 1st and 2nd feed. I like him then to have a proper nap between 10-1. So we'll do our walk then, or I'll go into town with him so he'll drift off in the pram or car seat and he'll often have a couple of hours. The rest of the day just goes how it goes. Sometimes he'll not nap and be grumpy, sometimes he'll feed more often, but that's a general idea.

Matchsticks today Saf? Is Granny still there to help? It's amazing how quickly you lose the ability to cope with interupted sleep isn't it?!

Aw Sparkles, sorry it was a hard night. T goes to sleep on me with final feed in the evening (or soon after) then I'll put him into his crib, he'll often stir as I put him in, but settles quickly. We have a low light LED colour change in the room with waves noise and last night he had his mobile with lights and sound on. The noise is only quiet and you'd think it would wake him up, but I think the distraction helps him not to kick up a fuss and then he drifts off. Keep trying different things and if she's just kicking up too much of a fuss, just give her some cuddles and try again in a bit. At 5 wks she'll not be getting bad habits, it just means a later night for you, but she'll probably sleep longer at night.

MrsH have you found anything to wear yet?

Elisabeth crawling and pulling himself up? I think your baby has become a little boy, you must be quite proud though.

    Hello to everyone else.

Dippy, A has kinda put herself into a routine and increased her sleeping on her own though moving into her cot helped a LOT as she stopped hitting the sides when wriggling about. Having a day time nap = a good night and A only started napping properly around 11weeks.
We get up for the day about half 8 when OH gets ready for work. Bath every other morning, dress with some massage, I have breakfast, A has a short feed about 9:45 then a nap that can range from 10min to an hour and a half. Then playtime, feed about half 12 and more playtime. Brief nap - 15min usually then a feed at 3ish, nap about half five, feeding on and off from 7:30-9:30 (interspersed with ready for bed and daddy playtime) then bed. She always falls asleep on me and sleeps in a sleeping bag so no change in temp when going into her cot.

Lola, definitely ring the surgery as there are a couple of different types of antibiotics that they can take at that age, so ask for a different one if the one she's on isn't working for you. Failing that, could you mix it with something else that she does like - something like yoghurt or jam or some other similar substance? My mum would always hide foul-tasting medicine in a spoon of jam when my brother and I were little. Sorry don't know what else to suggest - hope you find a solution x

Hmmm so A went down at 7 this evening - she's never gone down this early before... What does the night ahead hold??

Hopefully a long long sleep and not up for the day at 5am lol!

I'm praying the lo will not wake me up every ten minutes like last night, needing his dummy! I ended up bringing him in bed at 4am, much to dismay of the in laws who told me its dangerous :(

I didn't know you guys had a fb group, could someone PM me the info if it's okay to join.

After all the fuss, she slept until half 5, OH did her bottle & bum change then she slept until about 9 in our bed all cuddled up to OH as co-sleeping really unnerves me but I was already back asleep.
She's just crashed out now, we've had a busy day and she's barely napped so hoping that's it for the night and I don't get a 3am call for milk!
